I don't know much about card manufacturing, but I'd say, for the cost of a few boxes of Pennsylvania Ave. you could purchase an adjustable die cut.
I prefer my cards to not look like they were made by a five year old.
But I guess if people prefer there cards to look like that, and buy every single one, there is no reason to change.
