I actually checked on the 2011 vs. 2012 first round picks the other day. I looked at offensive skill position players (QB, WR, RB, TE) which are usually what drive value.
Top 5--2011 had 2 skill position players drafted, 2012 had
4
Top 10--5 players in both years
First Round--8 players in 2011, 2012 had
11
Based on first round picks, 2012 looks more exciting on paper. However, the Browns & Jags were 2 of the top 5 picks and they don't get much hobby love. I think the overall mix of teams that drafted skill players in Round 1 is what might be making 2012 less exciting from a before-season perspective.
Now that training camp is upon us, I can't wait to see some of these guys in action!
