In a perfect world it would but in post office terms not always. For instance if you buy something that has an MSRP of $20, and then resell it for $80 due to demand. They will most likely only give you $20 which is the original amount you paid for an item. They have someone who does the research/allocating the funds for claims. I know many people who have been screwed 7x over by the insurance offered by the post office. Basically you can only pray it gets there, luckily the majority of people/buyers are honest people.
