Default Jeff Bagwell

If there is anyone currently not in the Hall of Fame that deserves to be enshrined, it has to be former Houston Astros slugger Jeff Bagwell. Why do you ask? Well take a look at his numbers compared to some other current Hall of Fame first baseman and see for yourself:

Player GP Hits HR RBI AVG. WAR
George Sisler 2055 2812 102 1175 .340 51.1
Jimmy Foxx 2317 2646 534 1922 .325 92.5
Hank Greenberg 1394 1628 331 1271 .313 55.1
Johnny Mize 1884 2011 359 1337 .312 67.8
Tony Perez 2777 2732 379 1652 .279 50.1
Jeff Bagwell 2150 2314 449 1529 .297 76.7

Notice that Bagwell is comparable to each of the other HOF sluggers in virtually every category (aside from Foxx’s extremely high WAR). It is understandable that the HOF voters are choosing to wait a couple of years to elect Bagwell into the Hall; however, he should be enshired no later than 2015 due to his fantastic career, which is comparable to other HOF first baseman.
