My mom is from the Maritimes (New Brunswick) and that is why I know of it, but didn't know that it was so big in the Southern states either. Anyway, it is good.
We had this in Tennesse and is very similar to the East Coast one:
"This sweet and sour relish is made with green tomatoes, cabbage and spices."
