I heard a friend talking at work the other day of someone he knew who dontated them to some charity. The charity asked him the value of each card he said .10, he had about 5,000 cards. So they gave him a receipt $500 in donation that he was able to use on his taxes. Im not sure if this is true or not.
I've heard of that from others, but it sounds pretty dishonest if you ask me. Even at $0.01 a card, I'd say that's pretty strong.
