Thanks for your help---I hope snowboy is ok first and foremost. that being said, I have no sympathy for what he has done IF this is a scam. Because of lack of communication and other's stating that "money in account could be empty", I just filed.
FWIW guy who filed dispute for me at paypal (I just asked if he did same to others could there be no $ left) said that paypal will reimburse me if I am found in the right. Who knows if that is correct--figured there was no reaason to push it. Since they will have so many requests, someone (maybe combine frankferry and acox's posts) may want to repost 1x/day what to say if filing a claim, as if someone says they were in a break, it may 1. invalidate claims or 2. make it harder for legitimate breakers to use paypal in future-may scrutinize it more when innumerable same amount payments go in.

thanks again for the help acox and frankferry

it depends how long you wait.

If you wait for more than 30 days after he took the money out of his paypal account then yes that can happen. But once Paypal sees all the disputes they will reverse the deposit into his bank account and freeze his account and hold it in there so people can still get their refunds.

I think you may have been talking about the huge scam that happened years ago with China sellers and eBay. eBay was taken for millions of USD. After that happened they cracked down on things and made the paypal pending balance thing and all of the other new rules they have out there as well

I really think something happened and this is not just a scam. If it were a scam why do it with a 3 case break instead of a larger one and why go through the trouble of making up the 127 slots in this unconventional player draft?

I'm filing right now. I've never done this before so I have a question. Do I say that it's not as described or that I haven't received my item? It's I haven't received my item right?

I simply put "not received item" and in description I wrote "Byron I hope you are okay" I only did it to cover my ass but I do think something happened, and we don't know when we will hear from him. I didn't put anything about a break or anything else in the description.

No problem, if anyone needs any further assistance with opening claims or escalating claims or if you need any assistance with what to say feel free to shoot me a PM im always here to help.

Also if ANYONES claim is denied by PayPal shoot me a PM and ill give you further instructions on how to reopen the claim for further investigation. EVERY SINGLE PERSON's payment should be refunded in FULL. If ANYONE is not refunded simply PM me and I will tell you exactly what to do to get you money back

Cool, it was a couple of years and PayPal may be different now...I hope & if something serious happened then the dispute can be settled/dropped, but better safe than sorry...5 counts/arrests (I've found) of various attempts to defraud in multiple cities does not bode well though.

I just responded to a PM I received to assist a member of the community: I figured I would share it here as well to help those that never had to go through this process:

Simply click the details of the transaction and then scroll down and it will say:
"You can report a transaction problem in the Resolution Center within 45 days of this payment. Have a problem with this transaction? Click here to resolve"

Click "Click here to resolve"

Then you are going to be given 2 options. Choose "I have a problem with an item I purchased"

Then it will ask you why you are opening a dispute. Choose " haven't received my item."

When it gives you the drop down of what type of item choose "OTHER TANGIBLE GOODS"

DO NOT CHOOSE INTAGIBLE GOODS - THIS WILL CREATE A PROBLEM WITH YOUR DISPUTE

Simply explain that your items were never received. and open the dispute.

In case anyone was wondering - here is the difference between tangible and intangible goods:

Tangible goods are material assets that can be perceived by human senses while intangible goods are those goods which cannot be perceived by human senses. Examples of tangible goods are raw materials, money and jewellery while intangible goods are knowledge, information and capacities.

Like I said in my previous post: Once you open the dispute the seller will have 7 days to respond. After those 7 days you must ESCALATE IT TO A PAYPAL CLAIM.
Paypal will then review it. The time on this varies, it could literally be 1 day and in rare cases 30 days.

Now paypal SHOULD determine the case in YOUR FAVOR. However if they DO NOT refund you then contact me and I will provide further information on how to get your money back

Anything to do for a transaction just outside of 45 days that was paid with Paypal balance?

Oh and the reason for choosing TANGIBLE GOODS is simply because tangible goods could be ANYTHING physical that would be shipped to you. If you open the case under antiques / collectibles or one of the other categories it will delay the process once you escalate to a paypal claim.

That's a tough one. You would have to call PayPal directly regarding that. If you talk to the right person they might help you. But as per paypal rules you are only allowed to open claims inside of 45 days. If you were to have paid via credit card or debit card or echeck you would have 90 days.

TBH - your chances are SLIM

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT : When you are calling Paypal for this specific matter you MUST ask to be transferred to a dispute specialist

I've tried this a couple times. Even if the person on the phone opens a case for you, it will be closed because it is outside the window.

I think the knee jerk reaction for some of us is to blame Blowout for this situation in light of the fact that they approve all group breakers, but I think we can all accept some of the blame if in fact this turns out to be a scam. It appears that a simple search of Snowboy's name would have put any of us on alert. It might be prudent of everyone in the future to do their own investigation into a new(er) host before committing to a break. While BO could have found this info too, and upon finding it should have prevented Snowboy from hosting, they seem to have followed their guidelines for approving hosts in Snowboy's case.

All of that said, I truly hope this is not a scam and that Byron is ok. It does seem like a lot of work to put this type of break together just to scam and I agree that a case or two more would have made more sense for a scam.

Someone with the same name (I'm not saying it's him, but leaving it up to each individual to make their own assumption) was convicted of several counts of check, credit card, etc fraud.
