2012 Topps Tier One - 6 Box Case, Awful Except for One Card...

Hey guys,

Decided to try a 6-box case of 2012 Topps Tier One. Like others have said, this is a gambler's product. Seems like you're either going to hit big or you will wind up with a bunch of mediocre autos/relics (and some that are damaged too

).

Here are my hits:

Relics:
Kevin Youkilis jersey /399
Miguel Cabrera bat /399
Prince Fielder jersey /399
Mark Trumbo jersey /399
Michael Young jersey /399
Mike Trout jersey /399

James Shields jersey /399
Ryne Sandberg Legends bat /50 - extremely damaged, surface looks like it had a sticker on it towards the top that was removed (this card is being sent back to Topps)

On the Rise Autos:
Mitch Moreland /350
Salvador Perez /350
Jimmy Paredes /350 - who is this?

Alex Avila /235

Ricky Romero /75

- Ooosh?
Travis Wood /25, silver ink

Crowd Pleaser Autos:
Gaby Sanchez /399

Autograph Top Shelf Relic:
Ryan Braun single patch auto /99

Top Tier Auto:
Sandy Koufax redemption /??

^The only thing to smile about from this break. The Sandberg relic is badly damaged and the Braun has a pen mark on the right edge. Likely sending them both back for replacements.

Overall, I can't complain too much b/c of the Koufax which I am super excited about. However, it is endlessly frustrating dealing with Topps' poor QC.

Yeah from what I have seen hit it big or lose even bigger...seems some cases were loaded and others had nada. I would be super pissed with those two damaged cards as well. Hope they fix the problem in a timely manner.

We'll see, I just submitted the redemption for the Koufax so I hope that gets sent my way soon.

Also, it looks like most people had a few solid hits per 6-box case. I'm really digging the clear, acetate autos #'d /25.

Keep in mind that at about $28/hit (at presell) this is considered a mid tier product. To have this many knobs, mantle cuts, jumbo patches, and A levels autos in every case is quite amazing.

I got a white ink Koufax and tweeted Topps. They said they have two opportunities with Sandy this year and the next one will be "later in the year"... I'd say probably October or November for us Koufax-redeemers.
