Default Busted 7 89 Upper Deck

I just got back into collecting recently and my favorite card is the 89 upper deck griffey so decided to buy a couple off ebay. I bought 2 high series and opened them up with a buddy. The first box pulled 1 Griffey which isn't horrible for high series. The next box I pulled 3 in the first 5 packs! Only 1 of the 4 looked good enough to send for grading though. One had a hanging chad off of it and 2 of them had problems on the bottom edge.

I still have 178 unopened wax boxes from my collecting days in the late 80s, early 90s, so I decide to go open one of my low series 89 upper deck. 4 of us each opened 9 packs and if you pulled a Griffey, the other 3 paid you $5. The first box, zero griffeys. I decide to get my 2nd box.... no Griffeys. Major disappointment. Onto the 3rd box, 1 Griffey, I pull it so I get an extra $15 at least. 4th box, once again 1 Griffey but I pull it again for another $15. So onto the final box, hoping for a hot box. I pull one midway through my packs and my buddy pulls one on his last pack 2nd to last card. So 5 low series boxes, only 4 Griffeys. I believe 5 were Randy Johnsons, 3 or 4 Smoltz. All in all, about average I guess, was hoping for a ton in one box. Was fun though and luckily I pulled 3 of the 4 on the last 5 boxes to recoup some of my losses from busting the boxes.

We also busted a couple 1990 hoops and paid out on Jordans for some gambling. The last box we opened was 1990 Pro Set Series 1 looking for the Fred Marion error card. My 2nd pack I pull Fred Marion and my thumb is over the part of the belt error so I slowly move my thumb and no belt, sigh. A buddy did pull a Anthony Thompson rookie in an Indiana uniform so that was neat.

Fun times though, my buddies had a lot of fun opening cards for the first time in 15-20 years.

Sigh, really thought I was going to have at least 1 Gem Mint Griffey.
