07 Topps Sterling Hot Case break

So I got my case of 2007 Topps Sterling baseball today. Make sure the case is sealed and nothing is iffy. And I open the first box DICE-K Second box MANTLE. So right now I am happy and thinking heck I should just sell the other boxes but nah I will open the rest. I pull a Santana, then an Arod, then a Gibson. So that was the first 5 box case. I got the Dice-K and Mantle, time to quit now since I can't get another Mantle or Dice-K right? Next box Gibson man this case will suck. Next box Arod. Dice-K. I open the next box slowly..............MANTLE. Then next ICHIRO!

I ended up with
2 MANTLES!
2 DICE-K
2 AROD
2 Gibson
1 Ichiro
1 Santana

What a break. I plan to make a good thousand off this hot break.

Here is a question, on the 5 boxes breaks. The 2nd number (734-07H is checked in red). Do you think that means that is a Mantle box and not the 780-07H?

just thought of something.. isn't dice-k exclusive with UD? so his topp sterling cards wouldn't be autographed, right? or am i wrong here?

Correct, somebody posted a GREAT blog of the odds of everything. Dice-K has no autos. His sealed box though are still going for $300.

Dice has not autos at all in this product.

Way to go!!! I am glad that my Mantle post a few weeks ago inspired you to buy this case. Since you got two Mantle's does that mean that you plan to share?? Ok I really don't mean it, but I had to ask..Great Break!!!

Yea I just realized I got 2 Mantles but no Bonds. What a shame. I will make that trade anyday. That means somebody probably has 2 Bonds in a case.

I know I couldn't stop myself. You could make your money back on the other eight boxes and open the two mantles. I think Nick's right, very lucky case!!!

God you guys are twisting my arm. I just don't think it is a good risk, you have a 1 in 200 shot at getting an auto, so if I don't get an auto it will be almost impossible to get $400 back in the box (unless I pull a 6 relic peice 1/1).

But can somebody who busted a case tell me this:

Here is a question, on the 5 boxe case. The 2nd number (734-07H is checked in red). Do you think that means that is a Mantle box and not the 780-07H? Cause both my boxes were the 734-07H.

Sell them sealed - the single cards sell like crap - I have a 4 piece Mantle that ends tonight numbered to 10 that is at under $85.00 with 5 hours to go -
This product is garbage and I will be lucky to only lose 70% of the investment.

I agree with you. Unless you get a 1/1 or an auto the cards are useless. These cards are like base cards (the 1/10) Why even number them? I mean the cards themselves are very nice, but you would think they would have a better re-sell value. The Mantle should go more than $85 man, you should get $180 for a 4 peice one.

The reason they have no re-sell value is beacause it is not really /10. It is really /1000 or so. Since there are like 100 variations of the cards, and they are numbered to 10 they really do not mean too much.

Ichiro Suzuki - 100.0% Relic, 0.0% Auto
Daisuke Matsuzaka - 100.0% Relic, 0.0% Auto
So that is 3 boxes with no auto

Bob Gibson - 17.9% Relic, 82.1% Auto (2)
Alex Rodriguez - 17.2% Relic, 82.8% Auto (2)
Johan Santana - 18.1% Relic, 81.9% Auto (1)

So statistically, there are 4 autos there. So the Mantle could very well be an Auto. O god the pressure.

That is a good point. Sell the others, ask them what they got and if the 5 boxes are autos I know the sell the Mantles (which since it is a hot box both are prob autos).

No I don't think the Santana will go for a lot. There is a 80% shot at an auto so it is not re-selling good.

I am one of the watchers. The Schmidt auto's similar to that have been going in the mid to upper $50's. I will be throwing some bids your way in the AM. Hope for your luck that it goes for more than I am willing to throw out

I hope so too....LOL. That is the first Schmidt I saw listed that signifies his HR's. I thought that alone would up the value of the card.

I am going to be listing them on ebay for $499.99 buy it now best offer. Realistically I think I will get around $400 for each. It will be listed at 10 PM tonight so send me an offer before. If anybody wants it and can pay via paypal balance transfer that would be even better for me to save $30 in fees.
