Black Friday Break - From Harper hot box to major disappointment......

So I decided to try my luck with some Black Friday boxes last week. I picked up the following:

3 - 2009 Signature Stars
1 - 2009 Bowman Chrome
2 - 2012 Topps Mini
1 - 2010-11 Gold Standard Basketball (don't plan on opening)

The break started out with a bang in the first box of Signature Stars....it was a Bryce Harper hot box! (Well, if you want to call it a hot box without a Harper auto....still nice though)



It went waaaaayyyyyyy downhill after that. These are the rest of the Signature Stars hits and I had a missing hit that I can't do anything about... (By the way, one of the packs had 2 of the thick cardboard pieces. I think that was supposed to be my hit.)



2009 Bowman Chrome wasn't much better. I hit my auto in the very first pack (Tim Federowicz ) and didn't get much else. I did hit a Starlin Castro base, Cespedes base, Jeter refractor, and a Ryan Braun blue #/150. I have no clue about the value of the Braun, so that is a wild card.



I saved the 2012 Topps Mini for last, hoping for a nice auto or gold. It didn't happen. Not only didn't I hit an auto, I didn't even get a hit in the second box. Now if I call Topps I will probably get the same $2 jersey I got in the first box (John Axford....). I actually got 2 of the Golden Moments inserts in the same pack, so that was probably supposed to be my hit.

I did hit some decent gold #/61 and a Silver border #/5 (but of course it was Zach McAllister ) Here were the gold:

Brett Lawrie
Brandon Crawford
Ichiro
Dellin Betances
Chase d'Arnaud
Eric Thames
Allen Craig
Tony Campana
Ben Revere
Jim Johnson
Ramon Santiago

I also got 15 Golden Moments inserts, a Bryce Harper base, and a Yu Darvish base. I didn't hit a Trout in 2 boxes.



I wish there was some amazing surprise ending to this thread, but there really isn't. I completely understand that not all breaks are winners, but I guess I am most disappointed in the missing hits. I may call Topps and explain the situation and beg for a Trout or Harper auto!

Thanks man....definitely got a rough bunch of boxes with the missing hits mixed in. I was down to my last 2 packs of the Topps mini and didn't see a thicker jersey card, so I thought I hit an auto. That was a bad feeling for sure!

Coulda been a lot worse! I'd probably prefer to miss a hit than pull a scrub GU. :P

Yeah, I just stupidly got my hopes up when I didn't see the jersey card and thought I had an auto. Now I have to hope and pray that Topps sends me a decent replacement. Btw....I am moving the Starlin.

I have a box of Mini coming my way as well, hope I have a bit better luck!

How is the centering on the Craig?Would you trade?

Good to see someone rip for fun, doesn't seem like as many here open boxes for fun anymore.To me, that's what it's all about.
