1 Box 1999 Upper Deck PowerDeck and 2002 Donruss Best Of Fan Club

Got a few boxes in the mail today. I'd been wanting to bust some more older stuff, so I picked up a box of 1999 Upper Deck PowerDeck and a box of 2002 Donruss Best of Fan Club. I'd bought what I thought was a box of the Best of Fan Club some months back and it was really just the regular fan club, so I was pretty excited to get the real thing this time.

The PowerDeck box was $15 and I knew it was pretty much worthless, but I wanted to get it anyway because hey, weird stuff is cool :P. That and there are chances for 1/1 cards. Here's what I got from that:



That Sammy Sosa Most Valuable Performances card was actually a tough pull for this product, so that was pretty awesome. Unfortunately, it's slightly damaged. I got two of the Jeter inserts too (yay collation!).

I stuck in some of the CDs and they actually weren't terrible for being 13 years old. It must have been really high tech back in the day! I might actually pick up another box of this someday to try and complete the set. (Assuming I didn't, I haven't actually checked yet.)

Then came the Best of Fan Club box. This one had some slightly better cards in it:

The spotlight card is almost impossible to differentiate from the base. I guess that was the best card of the box, and lucky it wasn't some scrub. I was hoping for a nice Veteran auto even though I knew it was gonna be some forgotten about rookie haha.

Honestly, I had more fun opening the $15 PowerDeck box than the $45 Best of Fan Club box. The PowerDeck had more shiny, and that suspense with every pack of wondering if I'd hit a 1/1. I have a HTA box of 2003 Topps Series 2 coming in as well, which should also have some suspense with no guaranteed autos/relics in each box.

I'll set the Drew aside for you and see if I have any other Cardinals inserts. I was hoping the Topps box would get here yesterday, but looks like I'll be opening it tomorrow.

Well first they make you install Quicktime, which I'd been trying to avoid doing on my computer haha. But the actual content consists of video of some highlights of that player's last season (I think), biography information, stats, and pictures. Like I said, it's actually not that bad even though the video is kind of small by today's standards. The inserts CDs do have different video from the base ones as well.
