Scroll down for more scans.
Well, I assume I'll open all 9. I picked up a direct case from my lcs. Opened one box there and already hit the triple auto which was weak (Kazmir, Joba, Lester) with all white jersey pieces. The other hit was a nice looking Sissler bat card. Right away I thought, "Damn." However, I figured there is NO way this could be worse than my 09/10 Exquisite case. Opened a few more...Aaron Hill auto with an okay patch (never heard of him though), Porcello auto, Hunter Pence auto. Needless to say I was feeling the buyer's remorse. However, the pack I just opened had that old fat man from the Yankees. It is 1/36 but freakin sweet! I pulled a Ruth bat card last year and a triple 1st Hof card with him in 08 so I'm pretty excited. I'm probably going to eat now but maybe I'll put up scans before I open the rest to drag this out so it seems like I'm opening more, lol. Oh, I know people pretty much dismiss the base but some do sell pretty well. I've got a few good ones so far. Last edited by mightbe; 10-21-2009 at 10:39 PM. |

Well, overall I'm pretty happy. This is a really difficult product if you're looking to recover some of the money spent, especially without getting some rare 1/1 or something unique. However, this could've been MUCH worse. I'm glad I at least got the better rookie names.

Yes, I know it makes more sense to buy singles but since I want the thrill and fun of the complete gamble of opening product, Triple Threads is enjoyable to me. Oh...I'm not into baseball as much as when I was a kid, but should I have heard of Aaron Hill? Last edited by mightbe; 10-22-2009 at 02:10 AM. |

WOW! You finished the rest of the 9 box case strong. That Aaron Hill should go for decent coin since it has a awesome multicolor patch in the center and he had a awesome year. Hill also won the comeback player of the year in the AL. Congrats again

[QUOTE=mightbe;362522]I agree, they are two of their more Donruss/Playoff/Leaf-esque products in that they look the same year to year but I'd say resale isn't as brutal. I don't buy much high-end baseball, but I do like Triple Threads. Sure I like to open boxes in hopes of hitting some really amazing card, but I like it because it is the one product that I've found random nice pc stuff.
Yes, I know it makes more sense to buy singles but since I want the thrill and fun of the complete gamble of opening product, Triple Threads is enjoyable to me." Triple Threads and Sterling are all about the big pull. Yes, the big pulls are still pricey to obtain on a box by box level- especially in baseball where the RCs/prospect fillers are not desirable pulls. But as someone who's seen plenty of 1/1 cut autos and truly unique patches out of both products, I can tell you the few lucky ones are plenty happy with these products, as you can't get these jumbo patches, multi-cuts, bat knob, etc hits with any regularity in other products since Timeless Treasures, Prime Cuts, Legendary Cuts have fallen by the wayside. |
