Default Can you top this 5 star box break?

One of my worst every, that I think it is laughable. Not looking to sell anything though:

1. Juan Marichal auto silver /99
2. Madison Bumgarner auto /113
3. Albert Belle auto /208
4. Eric Hosmer auto jersey /97
5. Joe Dimaggio base /80

Got to say for the money of this box it was a pretty sad break.

I just priced it out on ebay
Marichal last sale $10.49
MB last sale $16.50
AB last sale $6.75
EH $14.75
JD $11.38

This is a $400 dollar box of cards worth about $60, that is what I call a bust! I cannot see ever taking the chance again on this product.

Paying $100 a "hit" and not one cracks $20 in value . I think you could fetch more for the Joe D, though if you haven't already.

It's sad how far Eric Hosmer's stock has fallen.

That would have been killer 18 months ago.

Just curious because I don't gamble on huge boxes like this, when a break is THAT bad, does it just make sense to hold onto them and hope someone gets hot?

He might get a few dollars more for each card but Ebay/PP fees will eat that up anyways.

Let me try to top that one:

Felix Hernandez relic 20/92 ($9.99)
Jesus Montero auto 45/99 ($12.77)
Brandon Phillips relic auto 2/55 ($11.49)
Bill Buckner base auto 100/208($9.99)
Josh Hamilton base 1/80 ($9.99)

Took me a while to get over that one, but I eventually did and have done pretty good on box breaks since then. But that box was the first, and so far only, time I've ever left the LCS feeling EMPTY inside. Almost made me want to give up cards altogether. I've since changed how I buy things but I have not sworn off high end. It's the ultimate risk/reward, and that's why I break boxes.

Cue the people saying how awful Panini is and how Topps is amazing. (Hint: Both are terrible.)

I personally do not think one is better than another. I think companies like Cryptozoic are the best, don't overproduce items, give plenty of value in their products, listen to fans, and always try to differentiate from year to year with their products. Topps and Panini in some ways do listen to their customers, they listen to their customers wallets. They put out products, regardless of value, and people buy them up. Therefore, the customer, in their eyes, seem to be happy.

Worst part is I treat myself to the box because I always wanted this product but hate to spend the dough on such a high priced product. I just never thought it was possible to get such a bad box. I didn't fathom you could get so screwed like this. I basically got all the scrubs they use for fillers in one box.

Took the words right out of my mouth when I opened mine. It was seriously one of the most depressing things to happen to me card wise. I was so stoked to open it up and get something, like a bat barrel, quoteable, sweet patch, something, ANYTHING! Then I opened a box of Sterling a few weeks ago, and a box turned into a case, that's how well things went with that. So, sometimes you'll go from the ultimate low, to a pretty good high. Hang in there man, it'll get better, I was there so I know.
