Default Crazy Bowman Retail Pulls

So I had a couple of fivers in my wallet that were begging to be converted to some wax, and while I'd love to patronize my local hobby shop, all the nearby ones either

a) Are more expensive than a nice steak dinner, and I'm on a ground beef budget...

or

b) Don't open till like 2:30pm, and I needed to get home by 1.

So a ran by the local Target to see what they had laying around. I know, I know...it's not the best way to spend my cardboard cash, but hey....what's the fun of an impulse buy if you can't be a little...well...impulsive.

Of late, I've been enjoying Bowman's rookie-oriented offerings, and there was a nice opened box of 2009 DPP looking to be pilfered through.

I grabbed five packs and was out the door.

I enjoyed my lunch hour (and a fantastic Mexican chicken joint) while I lisurely cracked 'em open.

The first pack was your standard Retail 09 DPP...fun prospects, some nice chrome, and a gold card. Exactly what I was expecting to pull.

The next pack I opened was the same, save for the fact that it included a blue Ryan Webb refractor. I was thinking....hey...nice pull from a retail box. I had some more chicken, maybe a tortilla or two and cracked two more packs. What do you know? Two more blue refractors (Mike Carp and Barbaro Canizares).

I figured I was all tapped out, but when I opened the last pack....I pulled out an AJ Pollock Chrome auto.....wow. I was beyond surprised. What a great way to begin a long weekend.

Now, admitedly, I have no freaking clue who these dudes are (That's part of the DPP fun in my mind....), but they'll be toploadered and put in the prospect box, only to see what comes of their futures....

And why haven't I received a pm yet?

To the op, congrats on the luck! Can't complain about 3 blues and an auto out of a retail box

I do love my Red Raiders.

I'm thinking there might need to be a "Texas Tech" Alumni binder in my collection.

Might be pretty thin though.

Have you begun collecting Chad Bettis? I think he has a bright future!

This !

And congrats on the pulls. Pollack, down the road, has potential. He's injured right now though (some growth plate in his elbow was broken, sounds worse, hopefully, than it is).

So here's a question for you guys....how did you get into prospect hunting? Are there good consolidated sources out there to learn about who's got a chance and who doesn't?

Is there some sort of "beginner's guide" to prospecting available that anyone knows of, or is it just a matter of buy, wait, and see?
