The point I'm making is that the argument "texting while driving kills people" is #@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@ because we already allow many frivolous things in cars that kill people. Texting is just the newest generation gap issue.

Nobody NEEDS to listen to the radio while driving but society has said we prefer to have radios in our cars then save the lives of the people killed when someone runs them over while changing the station.
Oh come on, this argument is completely ridiculous. The amount of distraction provided from a radio is insanely slim relative to texting, you have to know this. And as far as speed limits of 30 vs 60, yes, faster speeds make collisions more dangerous, but it's not the speed itself that kills, it's the irresponsible driver who is not acting appropriately that kills. If you think texting is no different than changing a radio station, you need a reality check.

Texting takes a whole lot more attention than changing the radio.

1. You don't necessarily need to look at the radio to change it
2. You have to constantley look at the screen to see what your typing
3. It is much harder for the brain to focus on the road and spelling words and thinking of stuff to say at the same time than just turning a dial and driving at the same time (studies have been done)
4. I think you would be one of the people that would be going 60 even if the speed limit was 30

THINK man THINK!
