Would any of you make this trade straight up? Two Scott Boras clients for one another.
Colorado already offered Holliday 20 Million a season and he declined.

Some people believe the pressure of playing in NY is too much for Beltran and that he would be better off somewhere where there isn’t as much scrutiny on players to perform. If Colorado made this trade I could see Beltran hitting close to 50 hrs in that city.

I wouldnt want to trade Reyes right about now. He is finally starting to hit the ball. He is batting .299 with 9hrs, 32sb, 10 triples and scored 66 runs so far.
If I were Omar I would say everyone is expendable except Reyes, Wright, Church, Santana and Maine. Everyone else can be traded.

Are you kidding, Reyes is ten times better than Tulowitzki will ever dream of being. He has his ups and downs, but he's still a young player and brings a lot to the table. Not many guys around who'll hit around .300 and steal 60+ bases as a table setter. I don't see where the hatred comes from for Reyes.

I was thinking more along the lines of Beltran not performing to the level where he should, considering the money he is making. (Some) People considered him the best player in baseball when he signed that huge contract. Reyes has been described as a cancer type player who needs to be motivated to perform at times. Your a pro ball player, what better motivation could you have than that?
Holliday is a very good ball player and Tulo is/will be very good as well. The only real reason I could see them sending either of those 2 players away would be because they won't sign when they become free agents.

Beltran would probably hit something like 50hrs if he played in Coors field and Reyes is still better than most even when he "takes off" games.

Holliday however is a superior player to Beltran, he's younger, has more upside, and is a better overall player. I think the Rockies could do better. |
