Default Am I wrong here

Just sold two cards on ebay to the same guy for 0.01 cent each plus 2.99 shipping on each

total is 6.00 I send him a friendly invoice and he emails back

can you cancel this item & the kobe item, i'm not paying $6 to ship 2 cards, it's obvious that your grossly overpricing the cost of shipping. it literally would cost $2 at the most to ship the 2 cards.

so then I email back

are you joking? I never said anything about combined shipping
and with the gross ebay fees that is how I make money. I could
have sold it for 3.00 and done free shipping. You are not paying
0.01 penny for both of those cards. The shipping is what causes
them to go for 0.01. I could have done it differently but like to
cut out the fees.

let me know
thanks

I never say anything on the auction that I combine shipping

Yes you are wrong.Charge the guy $3 and be done with it.You are trying to make up money to cover the hit you took on the auctions.

You should combine the shipping honestly,6 bucks for 2 cards is waay too much. Your asking for neg feedback IMO. Technically if you don't state that you do combine shipping in your auctions you don't have to though. Buyer should have asked you about it before they purchased from you. You should think about starting your auctions @ .99 instead of .01.

Yeah I have to agree with hofmichael. If I was buying from you I would be ticked that you were charging $6.00 for shipping 2 cards. I understand that you never put that in your listing, so you have the right to charge the $6.00, but I would not be happy as a buyer. That's why I always ask about combined shipping before I bid. One suggestion would be to put that information in your listings (that you don't combine shipping). Just my opinion.

You're wrong -- and do you really want the neg that he'd inevitably leave over a few bucks?

He puts that in his listing and watch his sale go strait down. I know if I saw a listing that said no combined shipping I would not buy multiple items from that person. I always combine shipping and also never sell cards that don't sell for more than 2.00 on ebay not worth it IMO

You aren't wrong if you ship them seperately, if you don't combine the costs, then send them in seperate bubble mailers and still make $1.50 each

Well its absolutey your right to charge the guy the 6 bucks if you did not state that you combine shipping. The way you presented it here to us, I use shipping to cover my fees, well thats gonna get you flamed. I personally think its a dick move to charge a guy 6 bucks to ship 2 cards but hey, you are within your right to do so. I would never buy from you though but once again, I would check your auction and shipping policy before I bid to know whether or not I would buy from you first.

I think that is still a little high as you can easily ship two cards for $3. It is not out of the range of most shipping prices on eBay though and the buyer seems to be happy which is all that matters.

Good Call! Maybe try starting your auctions at 2.99 or 3.99 and offer free shipping.

I've had the same problem with idiot buyers. Its tough to try to make up value with shipping costs when eBay allows buyers to give you negative feedback for ANYTHING (their opinion, can't be reversed except for extreme circumstances). I don't think you are wrong, but technically (and in FeeBay's eyes) you are wrong because you are not supposed to profit on shipping even though with eBay and Paypal's nut squeezing fee monopoly it feels like you have to.
