2008 Topps Sterling - Page 3

Ok I can see them doing this.....Munson and Campanella would be cheaper....but as I am writing this I may be dead wrong. I know Steinbrenner didn't allow Yankees to sign when they played, so Munson may be a less than 1% auto card, and those boxes may be a $500+ box as well since he died young and was never allowed to sign.

So if they could guarantee one of these per 5 or 10 box case it would be great...o god I am getting hyped up...you guys feeling it yet, im doing my best to hype up the secondary market

Well I will just add to the hype JBS. Was over at my favorite money pit on lunch and while there the Topps Rep called to speak with the owner Steve about Sterling. The reason for her call she noticed he hadn't placed an order yet. She also told him this stuff is being ordered like crazy...now I know sales reps are supposed to push product so take this info for what it is worth.

Also did you happen to see the foldout in the Beckett Baseball yet? Amazing cards!

Yea I don't believe the hype, I haven't pre-ordered yet and won't until a little bit before release, the case has gone down and down, but right now at $2400 it is pretty good. I will probably pre-order mine at around October unless we hear more info....like if the Ruth is 1 in 3 cases I will jump on that pre-order right away, if its 1 in 20 cases I will sit back.....but personally I don't think we will hear anything. TK and I have had a major problems with 1 of our allocations....if Topps doesn't guarantee anything then they won't have any problems with complaints.

exactly one of those in a case should make up for the weaker players. Funny to consider seaver as a weaker player but in this product he is!

I wouldn't sleep on the Honus Wagner box hitting 1k + sealed. His might end up being the second best box (besides Ruth) in the set.

I'm more excited about this product now than when it was announced. They were smart to drop the direct price. Everyone knew it'd be loaded, so I'm sure they could've had higher prices, but it makes it even more attractive.

So you aren't doing anything till October? What did you do last year? I know it's different from last year as far as the players but do you really think it's going to drop at all? I tend to think it will be pretty flat but you are much more the expert here considering the quantity you buy.

Jacob im friends with you on youtube im warningtracksports, and im the one who pointed out the wrong pic for the ichiro sterling when the box said morneau, but i was really wondering, how do you make back the money from buying boxes of sterling by selling a box for 150 buy it now and the mystery pack of $40 buy it now. don't you lose 10 dollars plus per box then?

here's a simple example....

box A cost = $200
box B cost = $200

Box A resale = $190...... (-$10)
box B resale = $300.......(+$100)

profit = $90......... (not counting fees and what not).

this is much better than not selling Box A and being in the hole for $100
