Default Shipping To Puerto Rico, Customs ????

I just sent a few thing to a guy in PR some mid 90's baseball. The lady at the post office told me I had to fill out a Customs form to ship there. I know that PR is part of the USA so there should be no form to fill out. She told me she would get her supervisor, he told me the same thing. I didn't have to pay any extra but I think it is a waste of time, I also thought these people at the post office either have to go back to school or go to a class on the USA. What do you guys think. I know when I ship out of the USA I fill the customs forms out and I get a copy of it. I didn't get a copy this time.

You should never have to fill out a customs form to send to PR and the one time the airheads at the post office made me fill one out it got lost in the mail. Its probably floatin around somewhere in South America right now. Good luck man.

Don't blame Mike for his question, he doesn't live in a state either and was wondering if PR took Massachusetts' place and he missed that day in school

Well, it's not a state, but it is a U.S. territory.

And to help you, "school" is a large building with "classrooms" where "teachers" instruct "students" on the things they need to know. You might remember, they have lunch there, and recess?

LOL Kurt - thanks

some of you guys really think it's a state? You can't be serious

BTW, USPS can ask for a customs form but usually won't and it more than likely depends on the size and weight. They've asked more often since 9/11
Especially if you are a muslim male between the ages of 15 and 40
Obviously letters would never need one.

UPS always makes you fill one out
FEDEX always makes you fill one out.

Puerto Rico is an unincorporated territory

Unincorporated territories are legal terms of art under the laws of the United States denoting areas controlled by the government of the United States which are not part of the United States proper and which are not possessions Federally administered and governed. The convoluted legal language in essence means they are more or less self governing, but still owned by the United States.

I've sent bubble mailers to the post office without a customs form to PR. Its a part of the United States, and definitely not international. Some post office ladies are complete airheads. I'd suggest going to a different post office if you can. Every post office is different in what they require.

I have sent over 100 packages to PR just in the last year alone. PR is a US Territory - they have US citizenship. There is no customs label needed to ship there anymore than you need one for Miami.

That is so funny that your USPS clerks messed that up so badly. It is almost as funny as this...

On USPS.com, PR is listed as domestic mail - with a domestic mail zip code. No form needed - whether you are a Muslim or not. Just to be sure, I called the post office in the Tampa airport and asked the service manager and he confirmed the website info.
