I was sitting around pondering---What young pitcher will end up being a HOF candidate? I grew up watching a lot of the now older pitchers in the league like Maddux, Clemens, Randy Johnson, Pedro, Smoltz, and Glavine...But who will be the next class of great pitchers? Will it be Kazmir, Webb, Oswalt, Lester...Just looking to get some opinions on who is the future....

humm Ill break it down by division ( not including Rookies/prospects because of players that are over hyped such as phil huges)
Al East Now: mussina, pettite, schilling, rivera case for halladay come their chance to go in the hall Future: papelbon, kazmir are leading the way for the future cases can be made for lester/sheilds. Al central Now: none that I see Future: Verlander and lirano have the talent.. Al west Now: K-Rod, Future: Bedard, F-Rod have potential. they will have to improve a lot the next few years NL East Now: Santana, Glavine, Smoltz, future: Hamels.. a marlins pitcher will prob pop up soon NL Central Now: CC sab has a case... I personally dont see a big case for sheets/oswalt Future: Zambrano has the chance NL West Now: randy j, peavy, hoffman Future: The pair of giants aces (cain, cant spell the linc's name), webb, haren __________________ I collect Jets players, Raul Mondesi and Ross gload baseball cards and a lifelong collector of 1990-1996 score baseball cards. I like the way you broke it down...but, I see the guys like Glavine, Smoltz, Johnson, and maybe even Hoffman as "was" guys...Now would be Verlander, CC, Peavy, Zambrano, Santana.....Future guys like Haren, Harden, Liriano, and Cain...But who will be the Maddux and Randy Johnson for the next 10-15 years?...I'm not seeing the wealth of great pitchers as we did throughout the 90's and very early part of this decade....It seems just as someone starts to peak...they get injured and are not as dominate as they were before the injury...and to get to the Hall you can't have an injury plagued career as a pitcher....

if the game ended today, yes. however, I'm basing on sicne they have been successful and I see themselves growing further due to it. I think they will be locks by when their carrer ends where as the young guys I am unsure if they can be consistant

HOF Young Pitchers are as follows IMO
Brandon Webb Johana Santana Ching Mein Wang Carlos Zambrano Dan Haren Cole Hamels Scott Kazmir Not sure on Lincecum because I dont think his small frame will keep up with his arm. __________________ "18 Wins and 1 Giant loss" |

That's a strong list...But Wang is an interesting choice...I guess if we look at stats, he's up there with the rest of them....He sort of gets lost in that New York limelight.... |
