Default Bryce Harper Aflac Auto worth keeping?

Hi...I have recently pulled a Bryce Harper Bowman Aflac Auto #ed 021/230...Now I know that there's alot of hype around this player....But hobby or investment wise will the card I mentioned above worth keeping? I see quite a few of these cards sell on eBay for ridiculous amount..I wanted to it sell it then, but somehow something is telling me that I should hold on to it. I don't really think I've got anything to loose if i hold it for awhile.. since it only took me 2 packs and a great amount of luck to pull the card. What do you guys think? Thanks! ----> Jharen

Pretty simple - If you want about $1k right now (give or take), sell it.

Cards like that one, that are not true RCs, I'm not sure the long-term is as potentially profitable as, say, a gold or orange refractor auto that will be coming soon. Maybe sell it closer to the release of 2011 Bowman and apply that cash towards his RC autos?

Even if he becomes Pujols (who is one of the top 10 players of all time), this card can at most double in my opinion (it is not the next 2001 Bowman Chrome Pujols). I would say sell it and if you are interested in making some profit, buy about 5-6 perfectly centered Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor AUTO's of prospects in the 30-100 range of the Baseball America top 100 list. Just based on the history of the Top 100 list, those are the guys who end up in the Top 10 the next year or two and can quadruple in price without many problems, and you can grade them too.

Would you rather have a $1000 or a card that could go either way?

Sell before the 2011 bowman comes out, I believe it will lose value when that is released, take about 1000 now or 700 or so later

I would hold. I am holding mine. The longer you hold, then more scarce they'll become.

I think his AFLAC auto is at its peak value right now regardless of wut kind of player he becomes because the first bowman chrome auto is always the most sought after card of any player

Unless someone is destroying them, there will be the same number of copies now as there will be in 20 years. There may be fewer for sale in the future but then again, who knows what kind of player he'll be at that time.

Theorectically, yes. But take a look at what happened to cards from the 50s and 60s - low production and our parent's parents tossed them all out. Hence the scarcity.

People didn't care for their cards back then like they do now. Now things are collectibles because the package usually says so.

Unless collector's parent's parents are tossing out their Harper Aflac autos, these will be as scarce tomorrow as they are today.

SELL!!

Sell... how many people do you think would be able to buy that card if it gets that much higher in price. Its $1000. It should be a no brainer.

He will have a Bowman Auto, A Chrome Auto, A Draft Auto, A Bowman Sterling Auto..... Topps is going to do the same thing to him that they did to Strasburg.. he will sign till his hand falls off. The value will only go down.

+1. Get 1,000 bucks now instead of $400-$600 a year from now.

He won't have nearly as many AUTO's as Strasburg because he won't make the Majors this year like Stras did. Therefore no Topps, Topps Chrome, Topps Sterling, Triple Threads, Topps Tribute, 206, etc. However I do agree that it is time to sell this card.

There is ZERO chance Harper sees the majors this year.
And if he does, it will be a September callup and only if he absolutely tears up the minors.
If you want to compare him to someone similar, think Alex Rodriguez here folks.
ARod was touted the best high school prospect, drafted in 1993, then tore it up in 1994 in the minors before getting a cup of coffee in the bigs in September.
And it took ARod basically 2 years before he started to actually hit ML pitching.
1994 was just a cup of coffee and he didn't do anything.
1995 was basically a 1/3 of a season, he spent time in AAA and tore it up there but didn't do anything for the Mariners.

It wouldn't surprise me if Harper spent this year in A and AA if he does well, then AAA next year if he does well and possibly heading into the majors by the end of 2012.
