Default Griffey should be a free agent....

ESPN - Report: Chicago White Sox won't try to re-sign Ken Griffey Jr.

I like it, he is my favorite player, and with this, he can try to get to a World Series.

He doesn't want to go to the Yankees so he will not win the world series
Really who are the contenders next year? Yankees, Sox, White Sox, Angels, Mets, Phillies, Cubs, Dodgers, Dbacks.
Who needs an aging outfielder to play 120 games.
Angels have too many OF, red sox have 2 CF, wont go back to the white sox, Mets have Beltran, Phillies maybee, Cubs have Soriano, Dodgers dont need him, Dbacks maybee.
So best fit is the Yankees. He should come to the Yankees even though he hates them.

The Rays can use an aging DH

He will never sign with the Yankees because of the way they treated his father. I say he goes back to Seattle to finish where he started.

Yes I know that and I never understand that. How did they treat his father bad? Yankees fans love Griffey even though he has killed us over his career. I bet you if Griffey was willing to come to the Yankees, they would sign him in a heart beat. They need a CF and are thinking about signing Mike Cameron, I would much rather have Griffey. Hopefully Griffey can sit down and talk the the Yankees management and maybee he can make up with them.

Sadly, I think Jr Griffey is about done...he didnt seem like he had that much baseball left in him when he was traded to Chisox....I think all those injuries took their toll on him. So long JR!

He hit 249 on base 35% of the time, 424 slugging and 18 home runs. Sure that is not all star numbers, but it is above average outfield numbers. However if looks like he has lost all of his power. Maybee Mike Cameron is actually better than Griffey now (243 33%, 477 slugging, 25 Home Runs and 17 SBs.

You also have to factor in the fact that Cameron is much better than Griffey defensively.

Not to mention Cameron is a former HGH user who was suspended by the league not too long ago. I think Griffey will either retire, sign with Seattle or maybe he would go to Boston. I am sure he wouldnt mind smacking a few balls over that short fence in right field at Fenway.

Seattle SHOULD look into bringing him back for one final year then put him in the front office. They really need someone to sell tickets. Cameron is as injury prone as Griff but Griff's skills are closer to retirement then ever.

Anyone see a list of the potential UFA's for next year yet ? I know my Sox and Phils should BOTH be shopping for some OF help and another starting arm.

Wow nothing that impressive in the OF or SP list. Love Manny but if he gets a big multi-year deal will he put out the same effort he did for LA ? I'd give him 2 years tops in any deal. Raul Ibanez is the guy I'd go after if I'm the BoSox or Phils. I think Burrell could play LF in Boston with the monster behind him. He doesn't miss games like Drew, has a good eye and has more pop then any OF they have. Also a plus arm in LF. He just can't run to save his life and gets into funks at the plate for streatches. I'd let Crisp go and use an OF of Bay, Burrell, Drew and Ellsbury. You know Drew will miss 40-50 games at least so Ellsbury will get plenty of ABs.

Oliver Perez jumps out after CC, AJ and DL Sheets. Perez has a live arm with great stuff but seems like a mental midget sometimes ala Brett Myers. He'll still probably attract lots of attention and get overpaid by someone.
