Default Mystery Cut #1 received

I don't have a scanner (I'm probably the only person without one but I've never needed one so . . .) but I'll try to get a scan of it for everyone since I always enjoy checking out what everyone else got. As I posted in another thread, I redeemed 2 Mystery Cuts. UD shipped one and the other is still in the check back for more details category. Anyway, the first one arrived today and I'm still numb about what I received. It is:

Harry Houdini #1/1!

I've attached the scan that Beckett posted in their photo gallery since it is the same card I received.

I'm surprised he didn't sign it in disappearing ink

Nice hit!

No idea. I wasn't expecting to hit something great. If I got something I liked I was going to keep it. If I got something crappy I was going to get whatever I could for it and hope the second one was better. Now I actually have a tougher decision to make (not that I'm complaining).

Haven't we seen that scan before??? Someone remarked that it looked like it had been signed on a garbage bag or something???

Great card! That must have been something to behold once you opened the envelope, since there were so many fillers that were added to the print run, I am sure you weren't expecting too much.

Also, I think it's funny that some people in the old thread thought it looked like it was signed on a garbage bag. Pretty easy to see it is from an old photo, signed on the mid-section of a man in a suit (I assume Houdini).

That's what it looks like to me as well. It is actually really sharp looking in person and it looks nothing like a garbage bag.

Between all of the unknowns and the huge print runs on some of the lesser subjects, I was just hoping for either something I collect (i.e. one of the Supreme Court cuts) or something that would have some resale value (a 1/1 of someone with a following or a higher PR of someone I'd heard of). To say I wasn't expecting anything great, let alone that card, is an understatement. I'm still a bit stunned and have no idea what to do with it other than leaving it in my safe until I come to a decision.

Keep your eye on this auction and it may help with your decision:

c 1910 Harry Houdini Signed Cabinet Card Photo JSA LOA - eBay (item 250316415148 end time Nov-05-08 17:00:00 PST)

Plus the Mystery cuts seem to bring about 5-10 times the amount of a regular signature, but I thought you may be able to use this as a reference point.

James Spence can't authenticate his own signature, nevermind Houdini's. lol
