Default Celebrating the 30th anniversary of "The Longest Game"

Hi folks, my first post on the baseball board. In my spare time I run ripkenintheminors.com, a site built on the foundation of protecting collectors from counterfeit minor league cards of Cal. In addition, the site has grown to include pictures, video clips and interviews with those associated with Cal's minor league career from 1978-1981.

We are less than 3 weeks away from April 18, 2011, which will be the 30th anniversary of the longest game in professional baseball history. On April 18, 1981, Rochester and Pawtucket would play 32 innings until 4:07 a.m. when the game was called. The game would be completed in one inning on June 23rd.

I had planned on posting some things about the game itself as we got closer but just learned of a new book that looks like it will be a great read. Dan Barry of the NY Times has written a book entitled "Bottom of the 33rd". The PawSox Facebook page had a link to the following blog article with information about the book and an article with Dan:
