Default How's your ebay sales going?

I'm still selling out the remains of my store and for the most part the ebay business is way down. Baseball still seems to get the best sales but I've sold some nice football refractor, rookie and star lots that should have gone in the $20-30 range but sold for much, much less than that. I even had a monster 42 card star refractor football lot go for just .99 cents- ouch!!!

I know there's been a down turn to sales but is everyone feeling this?

My sales are down, so I have started all my auctions with cheaper buy it now prices than I ever have before. That has helped to increase my sales.

I'm finding that I'm losing some sales because of eBay's new "all electronic payment" rules. I had someone make a nice offer on an item, but could only send a money order. Needless to say, I sent him my address and said send it.

sales are def down. you can see even with newly released items, sales prices are relatively low to where they were in years past.

great time to buy though!

My ebay sales have been so poor lately, my fees have been way too high, ebay has been way too hostile towards lower ticket item sellers, i.e. me and most card sellers.

I have already taken my store down, sold all remaining items and only have 3 items left open for bids.. I will put my items on Naxcom and CoMC from now on.

I feel as if I'm merely working for ebay at this point, and due to this fact, I quit.

My baseball sales have been just OK but the football has been bad, bad, bad!!! I don't have a lot of high end stuff left but no way should the nice lots I had for sale go so low. Ya, it's a year or two old but I always include lots of nice cards with lots of stars. Other than a refractor lot of basketball that was sold to an overseas collector for an OK price this has been a waste of time.

I may just do a mass sell of all I have left (except for the baseball) and sell it that way. I'm tired of listing auctions and it costing me money.

wow this is really depressing to hear about ebay sales since I just listed over 600 card auctions on Friday.

Good luck with it, and maybe it's just me as to why the cards are not selling, but I do hope you do well. I'm tired of paying ebay employee salaries, bonuses, vacations AND pension plans with my fees.

My sales are very slow and I put about 100 items on Markdown manager to let people know that I am willing to listen to reasonable offers, it seems as though I am getting some sales in bunches but its still pretty slow---

I Hope though with the holiday coming up that my sales change as I have 2 Bowman draft cases to sort and list and several other boxes that I am ripping and the listing on Ebay in the next week before my cards show up on COMC on the 12th

nothing sells for what it used to on Ebay anymore- with the economy, traffic being way down to the site and alot of bad buyers out there... its not nearly what it used to be

I had good luck with Threads baseball. 2 boxes and 3 slots in a group break netted me about $175 in profit. Other than that, I have not had much luck selling anything recently.

I really can't complain. Sales have been steady for me in baseball & football. I have had some monster pulls from cases, so that has really helped out as well. Been selling a ton off of eBay to save on fees. Plus I have been earning huge discounts from eBay from high DSR ratings. The last couple of months I have qualified for the 20% Power Seller Discount on my Final Value Fees & because of the Free Shipping disocounts I have been getting that discount doubled. Just my 2 cents on the matter. I really think you make it out to be as good or as bad as you want it to be. Rob

Its dying a slow death for me, I actually closed my store a month or so back. Now Ive quit buying cases just wasnt making anything anymore on them. Ive gone to just selling oddball items I pick up at flea markets and auction houses and stuff like that. I cant seem to turn any money in cards these days. I will be really pissed if I have to get a job to pay my bills

I'm only selling high end cards on eBay. Going to move all of my selling of $1 to $10 cards over to Naxcom/Sportbuy. I'll let you know how it goes.

I stopped selling cards and boxes completely. I will hold onto them till next year and hope the market comes back. I found a new niche market to make a few extra dollars and the cashback discount has been huge for me. My sales were a little overwhelming at first, but now I have a good handle on things. Check out my auctions and if there is something that you may be interested in PM me and we can work something out.

Checkoutmycards.com..has no hassles.. they scan list and ship them for you(all you have to do is price and decide on offers from buyers

- I have almost $100 in sales of absolute JUNK that I wouldnt even try to sell on Ebay- Its a great site - and depending on your sales you possibly could pay less in Fees than Ebay ....and not have to worry about deadbeat buyers OR lost shipments
I just sent in another 1000 cards today and have 800 posting next friday
- I am starting to move most of my Bowman Chrome Rookies over to COMC and just going to list higher end stuff on Ebay(auction/Best offer)

I am tired of Ebay giving me the finger- I went from 20% discount to %5 this month for no reason( it would have only saves my an extra $15....because my sales are very slow- I havent had a negative in YEARS - I just want to hit 10000 feedback before I leave

Do you guys just break cases and sell everything to make a profit? How many times to do you not break even on a case? 4/10 times?

I never break even. This isn't really a profitable hobby, and if you're trying to do it as a business, good luck. I don't know anybody who really makes money doing this. Breaking even on a case is rare, even rarer if you're only buying boxes. Just like in Vegas, the house always wins. The card companies are making the money, not us players.

breaking even on ONE case is very rare.......... quantity is what counts in this game. not to mention picking the right products. there are people who consistently profit on case breaks...... when breaking 10-50 cases fo a product.

it's takes more than simply opening the stuff....

1. research product configuration
2. research checklists.
3. research sales of similar products
4. bust in quantity
5. don't expect to sell everything in the first week
6. build a customer base
7. offline sales are helpfull to teh bottom line
8. the time of year is important also.

there's many more factors involved, and it doesn't take a genius to discover them. but like anything else, you have to put in the time and learn from mistakes. then make the necessary adjustments to avoid those mistakes in the future.
