That is still a lot of money....Rivera got 3 year $45 and is the best closer/pitcher ever and had a much better season than him this year. But I guess times are still good in baseball as I would not say F Rod is not a top 5 reliever in baseball but he is very young and proven and the Mets needed a closer so badly...but still need 1-2 guys to set up.
you are a Giants Mets fan???? You should be Mets Jets or Giants Yankees.....or like me Yankees Niners

Or like me.......the complete opposite of Yankees Niners, (until 2003 & 2004) a Buccaneers Bosox fan. Destined for failure.........until, like I said, 2003 SB & 2004 WS.

You think the Mets will still go after Woods and Fuentes? If I were them I would. What held back the Mets last year???? The bullpen....throw $20-30 million at it and that will fix the problem.
If you get K Rod, Kerry Wood, and Fuentes, that will cost you $13+$8+6= around $27 million and Wood should be a 1-2 year contract and Fuentes should be a 3 year contract.

If you do that, I will give you credit as of having one of the best bullpens in baseball..behind the Yankees..but just K Rod alone will do nothing if your set up men blow the lead before it goes to him.

They def need more than just KRod and they know it. I could see them going hard after Fuentes or Wood but not both. I dont see them throwing anything more than a one year offer if anything to Hoffman. He might have a hard time finding work. There are only about 6 teams that need a closer right now so its possible that the Mets get someone on top of KRod.

The Mets have a kid coming up named Tobi Stoner who just keeps getting better and better. In his last four starts, Stoner is 4-0 with a 1.04 ERA. In those 26 IP, he’s allowed just 12 hits for an opponents’ batting average of .140. He’s fanned 19 and walked five for a K/BB of 2.71.
