You have to be kidding me.....He is not worth $16.5 a year. He is a product of pitching in the NL in a pitchers park....they better not sign him....if they do sign him I am not getting season tickets.

In an on-air report for WFAN, SI.com’s Jon Heyman said the Yankees are closing in on a four-year, $66 million deal for free-agent pitcher Derek Lowe.

Yesterday, on Baseball Prospectus, John Perrotto said the Phillies and Yankees are currently the favorites to sign Lowe.

Yea it is funny, after all of this spending spree they might have the same salary as last year, maybe less.

That would be correct -no way we should offer Lowe that much. I don't think he is even worth $14M/yr. jeez!

Yeah, all he does is win... oh yeah, that's the kind of pitcher I want on my team.

I just wonder if he will be torched in the AL, his stuff isn't what it was a few years ago with the Sox.

We'll see I guess...but he doesn't really need to be overpaid because he's older and naturally will be in decline. I personally hope its either Sheets or Burnett instead of him..

So much for the Phils' chances of getting him.
