Default I Met My First Packsearcher Today...

I know this is probably going to turn into a packsearcher debate, but I thought I would share my experience. I was out at Meijer and decided to look for some Bowman. I walked down the card aisle and there was a guy standing there going through all the rack packs. There was a pile of about 9 that had already gone through. I stood watching him for about 3 minutes and finally said, "Did you find anything good searching those?" I have never seen a face like that before. The guy turned around completely bug eyed and started stuttering..."oh, what, these, yeah, haha..." It was definitely the look of someone who knew they were doing something wrong and got caught. I told him I was planning on buying some Bowman and he pointed to the searched pile and said that I could have those since he was done with them. WOW!

He then asked if I was the guy he talked to on the phone. No clue, but it was probably his pack searching buddy. He then went on to tell me he pulled a Harper Auto redemption in Roseville, MI and it is ending on ebay in a few hours. Then he told me that this was his "job" and that he went all over.

I grabbed the 3 blasters down on the shelf and he said that those were the safest to buy. Ya think?? I just never thought I would see someone doing that so obviously. I went to another Meijer about 10 miles away and what did I find??? All the rack packs laying on top of the blasters...searched to pieces.

Sorry for the long read.

You should have grabbed the ones he had set aside for himself and just immediately walked to the cashier.

Did you happen to go to the Meijer in Wixom? JW because I dropped by around 3 pm today and saw some jerk off with a pile of rack packs just like you stated. I didn't talk to him though. I just grabbed a blaster and hit a Pineda auto in it. So at least these d bags havn't found a way to search blasters yet...

You shoulda grabbed the stack that he already searched and bitch-slapped him across the face with 9 rack packs of fury. Wouldn't hurt that bad, but the sheer ridiculousness of it makes me laugh.

He only had 1 set aside for himself. I asked him if he found a Harper and I got the same sheepish, "haha yeah, um yeah...."

I live around Flint, so that wasn't it. The guy must travel everywhere fanning the packs.

2011 BOWMAN Bryce Harper BP1 Autograph Auto REDEMPTION | eBay

His name is chicken George...I've known him for many years, he's a pool player and seriously searches packs as a second job. You can guarantee any retail store within 100-150 miles of Holt he will hit soon after release. He has a "schedule" he goes thru once retail hits the shelves and he does strategic routes each day for his "job"

I actually work as a merchandiser in the Meijers stores and I know exactly where the other merchandiser keeps all the cards he stocks the shelves with. Older guy who didn't know anything about em as I asked why they didn't stock crap for items anymore. I haven't seen the bowman at the 2 stores I work though yet.

He should have lol. But you have only do it if he set aside one or two packs (not 9 or 10) and make sure you get away quickly. If you take too many, it'll make you seem ignorant taking a guys whole pile. And if you're only like three feet away from him when he realizes that you took his packs he'll ask for them back. But if you're a good distance you could just say, "Sorry, I didn't know they were yours." And when he asks for them back say, "No, there's more right in front of you."

Wow, I just realized that I spent a whole minute and a half typing that lol. And to the OP, that seems like a pretty awkward encounter. I've always wanted to see a packsearcher in person myself

It was very awkward. There was so much I thought about after I left. He was so uneasy and strange.

I would not even know how to search packs. Never thought to do it. I started collecting back in 1980....Wonder if they searched then also.

I had a pack search me once in a Walmart, Aisle 13 to be exact, near the kitty litter It was a little embarrassing at first, but once I learned to just "let go" and not be ashamed of my body, everything turned out great. We still stay in touch.
