I did not have a lawyer write to him. That may be something that I can possibly look into doing. I called his local police when this first went on and they told me it was a civil matter between him and me. So the only way to get my money back would be Small Claims being there is nothing else I can forcefully do in order to get a refund.

I didn't fill out anything online as far as fraud forms. How promising are they in getting me my money back. Sure they may go after him but what about ME? That's what Small Claims is for, the plaintiff getting money that is owed to him/her.

I have only done one, and that was back in 2000 or 2001 on a BC box I ordered on eBay but was never shipped. I'm sure the form and process has changed a bit since then, but I remember it was a very thorough form. I submitted it and then time went by and I forgot about it. It may have been over a year later that I received a letter of apology in the mail from this person, along with a check (that did not bounce!) reimbursing me the amount I had spent.

So...don't expect immediate returns, but if enough folks that were taken file fraud complaints I would expect things to happen.
