A Classic Ebay Buyer Excuse!

I sold a Bryce Harper Bowman Chrome RC to a guy with 23 feedback for $24.50 a few days ago and this is what I got today....

I tried to pay today and my bank account had been wiped clean...someone hacked my account numbers and took me for over a grand! I'm trying to resolve the situation but I don't know how long its gonna take N I don't get paid for 2 weeks...you should probably just relist it. Sorry for any inconvenience!!!!

Well John, I would like to believe you but your lack of punctuation and the timing of your message (once the price has dropped on the Harper Chromes) is suspicious. Classic ebay buyer excuse

Call paypal, give paypal his email address, and ask if he has had his account hacked and emptied. Tell them he is refusing to pay for an item.

See what they say, it won't hurt to ask.

Hopefully he comes through and pays then leaves you a negative feedback for being such a dick. Remember things do happen and identity theft isn't that rare anymore

I know it sounds lame, but you never know. I would check with Paypal first to be 100% sure he's lying.

paypal would never in a million years tell you personal information on this guys account, that is just stupid to even think for a second it would be possible

keep an eye on his bidding activity. chances are he'll continue buying stuff. email & ask him how's he paying for that if he cant pay you...

The easiest solution would be to tell him that you are willing to wait the 2 weeks until he gets paid. See what he says after you tell him you are willing to wait. The part that makes me think he is not telling the truth is the fact that he says "you should probably just re-list it". The reality is, while identity theft does happen, rarely do people not keep that close of tabs on their bank account. I am checking mine almost daily and I also have identity theft protection. I always check my funds before I go around bidding on or buying items regardless of whether it is here or the ebay. The seller is completely within his right to file a NPB claim regardless of whether the bidder is telling the truth or not.

Just remember karma can be a real b*tch and I think it's funny that some people will not hesitate to file a NPB and claim BS on a buyers excuse of why they can't pay but if a seller lists an item at a lower price with a BIN as a mistake and someone buys it and they instantly refund their money the buyer is the one being a d*ck if they leave a negative feedback. This sort of thing is a two way street.

I know this sounds like a really lame excuse and it is certainly used more often than not but it can be true. The oldest child of my brothers girlfriend was actually bidding on items on ebay without really knowing what he was doing. Ebay ID is: johnnyskied. I messaged his back and told him that I would wait out the weeks for him to pay. He said that all the other sellers have just relisted. I wonder what he will say next. I knew that getting $25 for a base Harper was too good to be true. Whatever though.

I have had atleast 10 people this year whos mom or dad have died...

the excuses are so awful..

i have been keeping track last year or so...

and i have had over 100 non pays

ebay could care less...

bidder does not have to pay if they win an item...

i have been told that flat out by ebay rep...

its so sad....

i had a guy win 700 dollars worth items from me last month i ended up leaving him 8 non payment strikes.

he was winning other items a day later....

seller does not ship item... negative feedback kicked off ebay?

bidder does not pay... no big deal

Ebay is a sellers paradise( according to ebay) ! All ebay buyers have 100% perfect feedback. I have never found another site,shop or place to sell with so many perfect buyers!!!!!!!!!!! whoohooo

Look at the history of the buys and his current listings. All he's been doing is trying to flip cards. Everything that he has up for sale he has bought in the last 2 weeks.

If his account has been wiped out what is going to happen to the money coming in from these auctions?
