You may have seen the Your Turn page in nearly every issue of Beckett Baseball where we showcase stuff that is all about you. You can see your comments on hobby topics and get chances to win cool stuff in contests all on one page.

The newly released 2011 Topps Series 2 baseball set apparently includes some rare “double sparkle” variations, which can be collected and are good for an autographed bat. Good idea on the bat front — and they certainly add value to the return for bulk breakers — but gimmick cards are something that absolutely drives some collectors crazy. And not in a good way. We want to know what you think.

Here are the Your Turn questions for issue No. 66:

I enjoy the comment someone left on the page. Sums up my feeling.

The Topps Double Sparkle Gimmick Promotion proves two things… 1) What little confidence Topps has in their own product that they feel that it requires a contest. 2) Topps doesn’t exactly think much of card collectors.

wonder what the real cards look like, the flash is overlapped onto the other cards on the promo, so that's not how the real card looks obviously

It's just too much. Also, if they still plan to release the regular sparkle cards - this will take attention away from that set. Good job on fixing something that wasn't broke... Well, at least it wasn't.

If Topps has no confidence in their product and doesn't like collectors sounds like they might need to rethink industries!

I like the idea of a redemption for a bat! That's definite added value.

Plus, at least I will know when I have got one of these. It takes me forever to tell if I have one of the regular sparkle variations.

I have heard these don't look as bad in person as they do in that little flier. But again that is just what I've heard.

So, why is everyone upset about this? Its an added set of three cards that will be difficult to find and can result in a signed bat. The problem is what exactly?
