-I don't think any card i've ever owned broke the $1,000.00 mark, and i've only owned a couple that came close. I sold/traded those, however, and nowadays my Mantle cards would be the most 'expensive' i suppose, though i really don't know what they book for, i only know what i paid/traded to get them.

Back in the early 2000's I did some favors for some overseas guys who I got to know well through a few online trading sites. I would actually be a middle man for them, having the cards shipped to myself and then packaging up things collected for a month or two and shipping overseas to the buyer(s). Most of these buyers were highend collectors who would be interested in buying from people stateside but alot of people would not send overseas, so I was the middle man here for them.
Items coming across my hands were mostly basketball related but included some of the rarest jordan/kobe and Lebron RC auto's around, to think back to it, I literally would have 10-30K worth of cards in my possession at a time from these guys and they all trusted me just from internet dealings....those were the fun days of collecting.

Well I can't say that I ever owned this card but in keeping with the title,I didn't literally have my hands on this particular card but they were about a foot away from it which is as close as I'll ever get to it. Here it is:

Have/had a handful that could compete with each other, but the most interesting was a Ulysses S Grant Cut auto 1/1

If you have to explain why it's a 1/1, then it's NOT a 1/1. Looking for Andre Dawson Serial numbered cards that are his jersey number - either #8 or #10. So looking for cards like 8/8 or 08/99 or 10/250. |

A friend of mine, who recently passed away, had 2 T-206 Honus Wagners and I got to take them out of the holders and photograph them years ago. One photo ended up in the 1977 Guinness Book of World Records with my name along the side "Photo by Vinny H..."
I also photographed a lot of stuff for Mr. Mint and other east coast dealer auctions years ago. I remember Mr. Mint hovering over me while holding a 1933 Goudey #106 Nap Lajoie. I've also worn Babe Ruth's uniform jersey before my friend sold it in 1982. Imagine if I could have run fast enough... ![]() VinnyH

I pulled a 1996 Select Certified Mirror Gold Griffey. Did a partial cash/trade on it. Booked at $5,000 at the time.
Second would be a 2001 Elite Status of Ichiro. Sold it for $750 if I remember correctly.

Bought a pack of 2003 Donruss Signature from an LCS in like 2009. It had been sitting there for years and had been marked down. Popped it and it had:
2003 Donruss Signature Autographs Notations Decade #44 Hideo Nomo Tornado | Beckett.com Except mine was incredibly better than the one in the picture at the link. The signature and "Tornado" notation were perfectly centered in the window. I put it up with a BIN of $999.99 allowing Japanese buyers and it was snatched up within 5 hours. I probably could have got $1500.00 for it had I listed it for that. Anyhow, I couldn't believe that the most valuable card I had ever pulled was Hideo Nomo.
