Default scans, refractors and scratches

OK, so I wanted to get an opinion on a scratch on my Orange Refractor Bowman Brandon Belt Auto but I cannot get the scanner to produce a good scan, nor can I get a decent picture of it. Colors all off, reflections, etc. Thinking maybe the mag holder is contributing to the problem but I'm not taking the card out just to scan it.

So, any advice on getting scans of refractors?

And how much would a 3/4" long scratch affect grading/value? its not deep but it is noticeable.

its hard to get a "good" scan while the card is in a magnetic case due to how thick the plastic is and the uv protection on them...your better off taking it out of the case and being careful with it to get a good scan

as for the scratch that is definitely something that will affect grading (surface) and value...make sure if you end up listing it on ebay that you mention the scratch, unless you want a return b/c whoever buys it will most liking get it graded

yeah, I know the scratch affects value. I had been thinking about getting it graded myself but if the scratch drops it below a 9 its probably not worth it.

I'll try to scan it tomorrow, just trying not to handle it any more than I have to, I'm paranoid now because I'm not sure if it was scratched or if I did it.

BGS MailDay - Harper, Strasburg...How Did I Do?

My Harper Gold has a visible refractor line right in the middle that goes from the top of the card to Harpers belt...surface got a 9.5 from BGS....Its a toss up buddy...My Blue appears Pristine to the naked eye and it scored a 9...When you send your cards in you are rolling the dice.
