MLB Strike 2011-2015

I predict that they MLB will go on strike and will end in 2015.

dthimesch 06-30-2011 08:25 PM

Can't last that long. The end of the world is Dec. 21st 2012

Based on what? The fact that there isn't a huge public blowout tells me that talks are probably going just fine. I wouldn't worry about that. No sport would be stupid enough to have two major lockouts within a 25 year span.

remdawg1997 06-30-2011 08:30 PM

Yah and Jose Canseco will come out of retirement and hit 75 home runs next year.

Fixed it for you.

waintrain 06-30-2011 08:44 PM

And Brett Farve is going to sign with the Cardinals.

kajshack 06-30-2011 08:54 PM

This same guy posted that he predicts the NFL lockout will last until 2017 or something ridiculous like that.

"Schooooool's out for summer!"

Obviously, that's impossible, since MLB will be in the middle of a four-year strike!

NBA is trying to disagree with you.

NeonStatus 06-30-2011 11:21 PM

Even if they do, we still have college ball and little league to watch. ::)

mikecancelliere 07-01-2011 12:45 AM

MLB going on strike was just a rumor started by NFL and NBA because they're both Fu*ked

Brad 07-01-2011 12:58 AM

A 4-year strike by MLB is more likely than this board ever getting rid of these stupid posts and the kiddies who start them...

^^^^^What he said unfortunately.

MLB is actually the only league that should have a smooth CBA renewal. Everyone is happy enough about the money, and that's the big one. The only thing that really might get ironed out is the Draft and possible some changes to signing bonuses. But that is relatively small compared to what the NFL and God knows the NBA is going through. I think we'll be lucky to have the NBA back in 2013. Baseball though, won't skip a beat.

My guess on CBA changes for baseball:

Draft moved back until July to let the CWS end and shorten the amount of time a player has to sign so teams can move on. I think instead of a suggested bonus struture, something more concrete is put in place. I doubt they develop an international draft, and I don't think they will be able to cap what teams spend on international guys. I think they realize some teams won't put up the money b/c they think the team is a tax break.

anyone think in the the MLB Draft they will end up letting them trade picks?

I think there is less chance of moving the draft date back than there is of moving the signing deadline up. I think that is the route they will. I am pretty sure that hard slotting is going to be coming in this next CBA as well.

It would certainly make things better and I imagine the majority of people would like to see it
although my guess is that it's not real high in priority.

You might be right, I just know that is something being thrown around. I think the draft is the main thing we might see go through some changes. Main point though, I doubt there is enough going on with MLB to cause a strike.

Absolutely agreed. I think the fact that there is little to nothing being heard publicly is a great sign.

The reason they don't allow teams to trade picks is because teams like the Yankees and Red Sox would be in position to take advantage due to their budgets.

Suppose Kansas City has the #1 pick and this pick is likely to demand a $10 million signing bonus or will re-enter the draft. New York calls Kansas City and offers the #22 pick, a AA-prospect and financial considerations and suddenly the Yankees get the top prospect in the game despite being a contender every year.
