Of course he will. He just had Tommy John surgery. That is a very common procedure at this point. With command usually coming back after the velocity, sometimes up to a year after the surgery. He had top notch stuff before he was injured, no reason to think that wouldn't continue.

And from a recent interview with MLB.com, Strasburg IMO is handling it very maturely. He knows what he can and cannot do right now and in the future, and I think he'll be better off for it.

Personally I think he will. A lot of pitchers do come back just as good. It may take him a full year to start getting back to normal which i hope he does not get blasted for, becuase everyone wants results now, but give him a year if he needs it. If he was a slider specialist I would say he will not come back as good, ie Liriano, but since he is not one, I think he will.

On a different side of things I think there are a lot of people with a vested interest in him praying that he comes back better than ever.

I voted as good as before, only after a full year back though. Remember, as good as before is what lead to his TJ surgery and injury. I have seen a lot of analyst talk about how he needs to change some of his mechanics or there is a high probability the same thing will happen.

I think he will be good but not as good as before
He won't be able to pitch as well probably after having
Surgery but he will still be a great pitcher

He will be head and shoulders better than the second best pitcher in baseball over the next decade, Felix Hernandez. I can see him being as good or even better than a healthy Josh Johnson, who is currently the best pitcher in baseball when healthy, which is about 50% of the time unfortunately.

the answer will be determined by Strasburg himself, if he can comeback knowing his bodily limits, and not try to be superman on every pitch, then he should do OK. IMO though theres no chance of him coming back better then before, considering how damn good he was.

yikes. That's a bold statement. Johnson is good, really good, but Halladay, Verlander, Lee. That's some tough competition.

All good names but I would take a healthy Josh Johnson over all of them. But, he is never 100% it seems like stated earlier

He will be very good when he returns, but I worry about him getting reinjured.

I think the main issue with Strasburg is changing his mechanics when throwing his off speed to avoid injuries and be more effective. He doesn't have to throw 100+mph when he comes back. As long as he mixes his pitches and works on his other pitches he can be even better.

Yes but not right away. It usually takes an additional year of actual MLB pitching to come back stronger then before
