Never buy "hot packs" on ebay. Either they are searched or re-sealed after being searched.

Agree.

With technology these days you would never know, plus how can someone know the exact packs hits are in. You see packs gauranteeing colored refractors.....Don't think there is a dead giveaway to that one.

Ginter doesn't have hot packs, it is the worst product ever created, remember? The hot packs are actually just full of dirt and used bandaids

Think of it this way, if they are willing to take the time to feel the packs, then odds are they are willing to find out exactly what is inside.

That should be enought to help you make a decision.

I would question why they are selling a pack that they know has a hit if they dont know what the hit is.

Reverse statistics. We open packs for the chance of a big hit, but if that's a 1 in 1000 chance, why not profit on it if you can? Sell that chance to somebody who is willing to pay for it? If you know the "average" Ginter pack is going to have a $3 relic but somebody is willing to pay $15 per hot pack, it is a pretty safe sale. You'd need a monster hit to offset that and those don't come around too often.

I sold all of my Bowman Platinum hot packs from my hobby case breaks last year and did much better than if I had opened the packs. I was getting as high as $35 per pack. You can't beat that when the average jersey relic is an $8 card. MOST of the hot packs you see are retail packs though that have been searched out at Targets, Walmarts, etc. If you see hobby ones, there's more of a chance that they are legit.

I am still considering selling my 2011 Platinum jersey hot packs when it comes out. The jersey auto lineup is weak this year and if somebody wants to pay $35 for that, I will have hot packs on eBay in no time.

No. I enjoy Ginter too much and I like pulling the non-sports autos and relics so I was happy with that. Plus with this being a set builder product I knew I wouldn't lose my butt if I got a bunch of junk hits anyway. Platinum is more of a risk in my mind so I'm willing to sell those odds to somebody who wants them lol.

You could always buy the "hot" pack, open it, keep the crappy hit that you will get and put in a PP claim saying there was no hit. Let the buyer explain how there must be a hit in that pack because..............

NEVER buy them from Pooltanewt!! He is the biggest scumbag of a resealer. I bought 3 Hot Packs from him and they were all resealed!!! Most other people are just searchers who sell them, but he reseals them.

Here's another one. 99% it's a $2 relic for $120. Ridiculous.

It probably is a redemption, but likely not worth $120. If the cellophane is see-through like most of those rack packs, all the searcher has to do is push the top cards aside enough to see the blue redemption border. Then he can sell for $120 knowing it could easily be a Jake LaMotta relic worth $50 or something.

Most of these operations are not scams. They are pack searchers who know the size, weight, or appearance of packs with hits and choose to sell for a premium rather than opening.

Oops. Read it wrong. Didn't see it was a guaranteed redemption.

Still think if he knew there were a redemption in there he would open it and find out what it was, but your theory makes sense too.

Assume it's a cheaper redemption but try convincing people it's a big one.

You got it! I'm glad this is finally making sense to people. I tried to explain this in a different thread a few months ago and people were acting like I was speaking another language. It's all an odds game.

Think of all the hits you ever pulled in your life, and then imagine selling all of those as hot packs instead of opening them. What would have generated more income?

Why would you ever buy anything that calls itself a hot pack created by an eBay seller? Are people really this dumb?
