Default Rip Cards

Someone explain these to me please. I'm mostly a basketball/football guy. What is causing them to sell so high.

Inside them is a mini card. That mini card can be a 1/1 sketch, red ink auto, mini wood card 1/1, or just a high #Ed SSP Mini

They sell good because people wanna take the risk. The lower they're numbered the the higher they sell. The better the player the higher they sell.

Thanks for the info. So, is it a guarantee that the buyer opens the rip card? Or is it one of those things where half of them may be opened and half left sealed? Interesting concept, nonetheless.

No problem. I don't quite understand what you're asking. I'd assume usually when people buy them they rip them unless they get a good deal and flip it.

Yeah I mean in general, do people rip them open? For some reason I think I'd leave it sealed.

They're only hot when they first come out

Not really. A Kershaw from last year just sold for $100 and a Nelson Cruz sold for $60 or so. They hold value decently well.

That is generally true for years prior to 2010. Extremely difficult to find 2010 for less than $60.

to OP..some people do infact pull/buy them and keep them unripped, especially if it is low numbered and of a PC player because sometimes the card on the outside is worth more than the chance on the inside

Partly because in 2006 and 2007, there was a flashlight trick where you could see right through the card and see what the mini was! (which is why in the last few years the mini was covered in two black papers)
