Default Cubs Fukudome traded to the Indians

For 2 prospects. The Indians pick up about 775k of his remaining contract.

Well he did lead the NL in pitches per at bat with 4.34. I am amazed that the cubs were able to get anything for him.

They didn't get much. Abner Abreu and Carlton Smith.

Abner with a sub .300 average and Carlton as a reliever has a 4.00+ ERA

That sucks, this might make the Indians actually have a shot at making the playoffs.

Don't count on that. The Tigers are not going to stand still at the trade deadline.

This shouldn't be the only moves the indians make or they are in some serious trouble still. The Indians need at least 2 MLB quality outfielders. They are somehow still in the middle of a pennant race after having to rely on guys such as: Travis Buck (.228 Avg this season), Austin Kearns(.216), Ezequiel Carrera(.244 in 42 AB), and Luis Valbuena(Not even an outfielder), for the past month and a half. Shin-Soo Choo is coming back soon(est. August 15th) and maybe Grady by the end of september but they have both struggled this season WHEN healty.

Any Indian fans knows that are biggesst need is a right handed power bat. Ryan Ludwick would make the most sense to me at this point but I am not sold on him being being a significant contributor. Any realistic thoughts/ideas on who they should target before the deadline.
