Im thinking about buying a retail box (24 packs) but Im not sure. I know im not guaranteed a hit, but for around $50 it seems like an okay deal? What do you guys think? I haven't seen these boxes at Target so I don't know what the odds are. Probably the same as the blasters

I may be wrong, but I think most topps 24 pack retail boxes guarentee one hit per box...will probably end up being a crappy relic, but hey for $50 it should be a fun rip!

It's actually better than hobby if you're after minis (assuming the packs aren't shorted, which happens a lot in retail).
I did a few retail boxes of A&G last year and they were fun.

I've seen it as low as $44 and considering you get one hit per box I think it would be a good product to rip. Why pay double for hobby knowing that autos are falling 1 in 3 boxes and most of the relics and half the autos are junk anyway? If you wanna build sets and sell singles, retail is the way to go.

I bought five cases of retail and busted 32 boxes last week (kept the rest to sell at shows and ebay) and got 31 hits. They are not guaranteed in each box, but come pretty regularly at 1 per box. Best place to get minis and inserts for set building.
The quality of hits between retail and hobby were nearly identical. I pulled some decent $30-$40 autos from retail. If anything, the bat cards came a little more easily than they did with my 6 hobby cases, but that might have just been because it came from a different production run. You obviously can't get State Relics or Rip cards from retail, but it still a good bang for the buck.
