Default Manny - did you check the scoreboard?

I have been a HUGE Manny Ramirez fan up until the 6th inning today. In a 7-2 a$$-kicking, to hit a solo home run and act like you just won the World Series - give me a break.

What a f-ing idiot.

Done...

While I admire Manny's talent, I can't stand Manny the person. I normally don't wish ill-will on others....but I would like to see someone bean him in the head a few times on purpose.

Thats just Manny being Manny - bet you never heard that before TK.
This game ain't over yet. Sox have had some huge innings this year and another one isn't out of the question. We have them right where we want them. LOL

I know...he's always been that way. But, for some reason, that ridiculous display tonight pushed me over the edge. I WAS rooting for the Sox to play the Rockies, but now I'm an Indians fan - period.

Even if the Sox win this game and the series, what in the he!! was he so proud of???

And all 3 were relatively meaningless to this point.

I disagree. I think Tito should have left him finish the 5th. I don't think he gives up that 3 runner to Jhonny.

wake was good until the 1 mistake then he couldnt get it out of his head and cleveland hit some great pitches. you had to pitch wake tonight. beckett on short rest yes he has been good in the past but look at the history of the last few yrs doesnt look so great and cleveland crushed wang on short rest. also if they win with wake tonight they have their ace and shill and only needed 2 more wins.. anyways back to man ram. the guy is a total dbag... he never acted like this until a few yrs ago when the media started to stand up for him thats just manny being manny he never pulled this bs when he was with c-town and tito needs to have a little talk with him i think. just goes to show you managers have no power because back in the day u know a good manager would have benches his a$$ after that display.

I think the Sox would love to move him BUT its tough to get any value for a guy with his attitude...and contract. Great hitter but a mental case.

Beckett wins Thursday and then its back to Beantown. JD Drew is the most overpaid player in the history of the game and couldn't get a hit when it counts if it was on a tee. Scott Boras should be gang raped by an army of gay porn stars. Hows that for angry ?

BTW Joe Girardi is ripping Manny for posing at the plate. Sportscenter will talk more about Manny than the game probably.

You had to start Beckett last night. That way you get him for game 7 as well. That was a terrible move and will haunt the Red Sox. If they are up 2-1, I can see waiting until game 5 for Beckett. But you are down and need to win.

Actually, there is a good chance that Manny didn't even now that they were losing 7-0. Didn't you guys ever hear the story that Damon tells about Manny not even knowing what city they were playing in?

As much of a Red Sox fan that I am, this series is over. Wakefield didn't pitch all that bad. The worse thing that happend to him was trying to stab that line drive toward 2nd. At worst, a run would have scored and there would have been two outs. Good chance it would have been a double play and only 1 run would have scored that inning. I do think they should have left him in to face Peralta.

As much talent as the Red Sox have, I believe alot in the World Series being destiny. The Indians are just destined to be there. They have really good pitching, their entire lineup is hitting and they are getting all the breaks including Gagne having to pitch in Game 2 . Remember, they had the same record as the Red Sox in the regular season. Anybody who thought this would be a slam dunk for the Red Sox is crazy.

I think the Rockies are destined to win the whole thing.

Yes every year Manny would say he wanted to be traded ...BUT what 2 players could you find who put up the numbers year in and year out like he has ?? Granted his numbers where low this year but I believe he was more hurt than he wanted anyone to know..
Now I see the Yankee fans here are over joyed BUT its not over yet and while you play gulf AGAIN the RED SOX are still in the playoffs

Series ends in Game 5...Indians win and shell Beckett who is no where close to as good as he has pitched this year..

Manny is and has always been a prick.

Series may end in Game 5 BUT Beckett IS as good as he has pitched this year. He is at the age where many many pitchers turn potential into performance. His command of his curve and changeup this year has taken him to the next level. Sounds like you are still bitter about the the Pats 21 point victory over the mighty Cowboys

As for Manny, generally I think these things are blown WAY out of proportion. It's accepted in football, hockey, and basketball, so why not baseball. It's always assumed that the player's purpose is to "show up the other team" and I don't think that is the case most of the time.

Dan Shaugnessy from the Boston Globe even wrote in his story today that Manny is classless. I honestly think he just doesn't know any better.

However, I do agree with the previous poster. Why is it wrong? Do people get all bent out of shape when Tiger Woods pumps his fist after a 3rd consecutive birdie even when he is 3 still strokes back? How about when TO scores a touchdown when the Cowboys are still losing? What about when a team goes on a 14-0 run in the NBA and they are still losing by 6? It's a game. Have fun. If that means celebrating a home run after the two teammates in front of you hit one, then celebrate. Everyone is so damn uptight.

Dan Shaugnessy calling someone else classless is classic. Someone should look in the mirror.

Manny is a blockhead! For all of his great abilities as a baseball player, he does stuff like this every couple of months. Terry should be able to sit his butt down, without fear of getting chewed out by the guys upstairs, for stunts like this. Unfortunately, it is the playoffs and he has been one of the few guys having a good series. The Sox are putting NO pressure on these guys. The Indians have scored first in EVERY game in this series. Let's see how they react to being down 3 runs for once. As far as the decision to pitch Wakefield, I agreed with it. Beckett's back was tightening up on him during game 1. It was a good thing we had gotten a lead by then, because he probably would've came out after that inning regardless of what the score was. Now, the adjustments I would've made would've been to sit down Pedroia & either Drew or Crisp for Cora and Ellsbury. None of these 3 have done anything in this series except get a 2 out single every now and then. Big whoop! IF the Indians score the first couple of runs again Thursday, it is over. Also, whoever said this was "destiny", give me a break! It's simple execution of the at-bats for the offense and pitches for the pitcher that's determining the games. Nothing less ... nothing more. When Byrd was starting guys off with a fastball right down mainstreet and we watched them go by and then swung at a pitch 6 inches off the plate for strike two, it's a simple adjustment. They did it for a couple of at-bats and then went right back to watching pitches. The great Eddie Murray once said, they should have called this game Adjustments, not baseball. The Indians are just doing a better job, period! Just my .02 worth.
