Default Strasburg's 1st Rehab start

Well the numbers look pretty good for the first start. Even though he did give up an opposite field homer, 4 SOs against 8 batters, 25 strikes and only 6 balls. Upper 90s on the gun...I like it.

Nice... all aboard. Please keep your hands and arms inside the ride at all times. The Strasburg Train has been known to exceed 100mph and break lots of limbs including his.

Sounds like he made one mistake pretty much.

I'll allow that since he hasn't pitched in a real game in over a year.

Brief, but very effective.

Just heard (from an unreliable source) that the Catcher told the batter the pitch and location on that homer. Figures.

Friday I heard the news that Strasburg's rehab start was going to be in Hagerstown and thought that would be a fun game to catch. On the way home it dawned on me that it was my Wedding Anniversary and you can guess what won out.....

" He threw at least 97 mph on 15 total pitches and hit 98 five times."

This exciting news for the Nats fans out there...I can remember be at his debut game last year and it was one of the best baseball memories I have to date!

Only problem is, they were talking standing room only. People were buying up tickets like crazy when the news hit. I was going to try and make it out, but I've been to Hagerstown and that stadium is not big. It would not be fun having to stand around in the muggy heat...even if to catch a glimpse of "the great one's" return to baseball. I'm curious where his next game will be. Potomac? Harrisburg?

Kind of figured it would be a zoo down there. It was plenty hot and muggy today too boot.

pretty bold statement....why would he sell out the face of the franchise and his own teammate?

I live an hour from Hagerstown, and yes, it's small. I would much rather make the drive up to Harrisburg for a game at a bigger, nicer park. 2 1/2 hours from Cumberland, if you are in the DC area it is probably 2 or so hours. And, tickets are pretty much the same price. Wait, wait, wait.

Imagine if Strasburg makes onto the Senators this year and they have him and Harper in the same game, now that will be a mad house.

I think Harrisburg is going to be a mad house too. Harper and Strasburg...finally together. Epic.

Yup, live seven minutes from the park. Can't wait. Going to check out Harper next week.

no one has any opinion on the aforementioned post about the catcher tipping the hitter off the pitch type and location?

i think thats ridiculous that someone here can state "they heard" this from any reputable source and find it impossible that an A catcher would tell some hitter what pitch was coming from the best pitching prospect in the last ten years and his own battery mate...

i feel like im taking crazy pills!!

Yeah, and the catcher also told the hitter Strasburg was planning to marry Harper.

His next start will be this Friday, for High-A Potomac.

Obviously I wasn't there but here's what MLB.com says:

Myrtle Beach designated hitter Travis Adair sent Strasburg's 33rd offering right back at the former No. 1 overall Draft pick, and Strasburg fielded it and threw to first base to complete three scoreless innings in his second rehab start.

Stephen Strasburg threw 33 pitches over his three scoreless innings -- 26 for strikes. Strasburg needed 31 pitches to get through 1 2/3 innings Sunday at Class A Hagerstown, and it took only two more pitches to get through three frames in his second rehab outing since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September.

Strasburg's fastball hit 99 mph once, but his offspeed pitches were equally effective for called strikes. The right-hander struck out five batters -- one looking -- and 26 of his 33 pitches were strikes. He struck out the leadoff hitter on four pitches in each of his three innings.

Every ball put into play was weakly hit in the infield, and three Pelicans reached base on infield singles.

The closest thing to a ball out of the infield was Jared Hoying's pop out of play down the third-base line, and after another foul ball and called strike, Hoying became Strasburg's third strikeout victim.
