Default Bryce Harper Leaves Game W/ Hamstring Injury

Doesn't sound too good. Sounds like he couldn't put weight on it.

Apparently he needed to be carried off because he couldn't put any weight on it at all. Hopefully it's not torn!

Will be interesting when more news come out about the severity for sure.

I pulled my hamstring a month ago to the point I couldn't walk for two days.

Now I'm back out on the mound throwing and everything feels good. And I'm several years older than him.

Point is, he will be fine. He may have to sit out a few weeks.

Worst case scenario should never be assumed.

Ya I tore my Rotataor cuff in a preseason HS game earlier this year. everyone was assuming the worst but I was back on the field after 3 months
and I was pitching in summer ball and everything has been fine. I really dont think harper's injury will be that bad

Topps is full of panic because they were counting on his Star Power to sell us a bunch more watered down 2011 products.

Hahaha.

My full ride D1 got screwed 6 years ago when I tommy john'd my elbow to hell my senior year. I am just barely getting back into it and I'm throwing high 80's after only 8 weeks. A couple more months of mound work and careful attention to the arm I should be able to be back in the mid 90's and try and get picked up. It has amazed me what a strong mature body can do. I can also drop 475 footers with a wood bat, something I couldn't near do in HS. Weighing 220 instead of 175 makes a big difference hahaha. I have a couple good connections so hopefully I can get into low A ball and make my way up. Control was always my strength, but right now I'm really having a hard time with consistency. I'm kinda Chuck Knaublaching it up, but it's only pen work. I'm getting my mechanics and delivery more consistent and the deuce is starting to get nasty again.

I just hope my elbow didn't crap on me and I should be good.

It's being reported as a strained hamstring. He'll be re-evaluated tomorrow.

Hopefully its just a strain, I would hate to see it be something serious and have him miss a considerable amount of time...especially when he was starting to raise his batting average

Baseball tonight said if he doesn't look ready to play in a few days it is likely the Nationals will shut him down for the season.

Not sure what this means in terms of value.

There's only a couple of weeks left in the minor league season, no? If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised to see them give him a break until maybe the AFL.

Or they could give him a couple weeks and bring him up to the big club some random night. Pitchers spot due up to lead off the eighth, the lights go out in DC, GONG, the Undertaker's music plays, PA announcer says "now batting for the Washington Nationals, number 34, Bryce Harper!," the lights come on and Harper has one foot in the box looking down to third to catch his signs, haha.

Yes he's been doing so great in AA that he will be able to hit big league pitching!

And my post was entirely, 110%, fully, totally serious.

I mean seriously, guy, I talked about the lights going out at the stadium and the Undertaker's theme music.

Learn to laugh.

was looking around for news on harper this morning since I have tickets to the game monday and I think an article (real short) on mlb.com suggested they would be putting him on the 7 day DL (perfect, that means he misses all three games here).

No idea if he will be with the team or not, hoping he will but expecting he wont (and trying to prep my son so he wont be disappointed).

labuma, if what you're saying is true, good luck.
