I have never got to see the guy play in person. I have read a lot about him though and I saw him quite a bit last season on tv. I thought the guy looked rough but had a ton of potential. This year has been absolutely atrocious though. I will admit, I have not seen a braves game this year though. Who thinks he is just in a sophmore slump and who here thinks he was just an overhyped bust?

He is not a bust he is 22 years old and I think he could be a superstar he has great power and speed if he could stay healthy he could be a 30-30 guy easy. He could be like Matt Kemp and it could be a couple of years before he brakes out and has a huge year.

Depends on what you consider a "bust"
Is he Ken Griffey Jr or Willie Mays as people were saying, you know who you are, when he was getting called up and hitting these HR's that broke windshields in the parking lot...NO Can he still be a productive player? Sure But I don't think he'd ever be 30/30 - maybe 30 HR's though.

He is way too young to even evaluate him as a bust. For him to even be in the majors at this age should prove he is no bust.

once he matures... watch out! he'll be killing it. he had a great break-out year, 90% of players like him go through the sophomore slump... so no big deal there. i hope to see him continue to hit HR's and steal bases. i'm not invested in him either. i just remember growing up there wasn't a year gone by that the braves werent winning title after title.

I'd say see how he does next year.
Also, remember Adrian Beltre was atrocious with the Dodgers as well before he fnally broke out and became a solid starting 3B. Not a superstar like projected though. Which brings me to Heyward, who many were saying he's the next Griffey. I see him possibly being more like an above average OF but not the superstar so many projected. |

I have my doubts about him. I watch every Braves game and his bat is way off. He simply doesn't adjust his swing to the pitches thrown to him. He swings at balls and gets caught looking with strikes. Pitchers have learned that he'll swing at anything so they never give him something to hit. This may just be a sophomore slump but if he continues to hit like he is now next season then I'll consider him a bust.

Certainly not a bust, just not having a great year, sure Mike Stanton is less talked about and probably better, Heyward is still pretty good.

I think he really starts his career next year, that is, if he can stay healthy. He still has the potential at only 22, and I think he puts most of it (If not all) together next year...
.280-.290 AVG 30 HRs, 90 + RBIs Is what I could see out of him next year. And from there on, he becomes a solid OF.

People did this with Wieters too. So quick to jump off that bandwagon at the first sign of struggle. I'll take him on the Yanks. Kevin Long will fix that swing right up.
