Default Which "Rare" Event Will Happen Next?

Simple but not simple question.

I know that seems the obvious choice but even as a die-hard Cubs' fan I can barely watch right now.

I will go with a .400 hitter as my vote. Cubs winning it all as a 2nd choice.

I'm going with Barry Bonds getting into the HOF. Probably not on a first ballot or anything like that but something tells me he'll get in. The next GM of the Cubs will coming into a great situation but they still have a ways to go before they will be able to really compete for the division. I could care less about pitcher wins and think they are meaningless. I think that seeing a .400 hitter and one with a 56 game hitting streak will be very tough to do. The 56 game hit streak requires skill as well as luck (getting some of those bloop singles to fall). I think with the way pitching is now, I just don't know if we'll see a .400 hitter.

Forgot about that. Funny considering I posted a thread on whether Matt Kemp would get to that this year. I think he's at like 31/36 with just over a month to go.

Barry Bonds makes the HOF. Easy. Cubs go last on my list.

Justin Verlander might get 30 wins in a season if he keeps pitching like this and the luck rolls his way.

None. 30 game would take a 4 man rotation likely, with getting 33 starts on a 5 man normal rest, that would take a beyond amazing year. .400 too high, .385 maybe. 56 games considering 40 gets people excited and the last 16 is still a long hitting streak, wouldn't happen. Cubs just suck, so no, and the steroids should keep Bonds out of the HOF if they want to keep it pure

Bryce Harper's AA manager says he will have a 50/50 season........but i doubt it.....Dimaggios record is the most amazing to me....56 game hitting streak? ridiculous.....no one will do that again

Barry Bonds will be a Hall of Famer, probably first ballot.

The only guy I saw out there who had a legitimate crack at .400 is now too old to pull it off (Todd Helton). I don't see a player in baseball who could hit .400 now. You need someone who has speed, doesn't strike out much, and can hit with enough authority that outfields play deep. Maybe a guy like Jacoby Ellsbury could get there, but he's going to have to make that run soon.

30 wins isn't going to happen. With 33 starts in a season, you'd have to be just about perfect and the pen couldn't cost you any wins.

56 game hit streak is real unlikely. Too much specialized pitching. DiMaggio hit his streak seeing the same pitcher 4 or 5 times in a game. Now that doesn't happen.

The Cubs are cursed. There will be no championship in their future.

I could see Bonds getting in even if its 10, 15, 20 years from now. people are going to start to 'forget' how terrible steroids are.

It was tough though to not choose the cubs, because even though the cubs are not my favorite team, it will be the biggest party in the world when they win it all. I just hope it doesn't turn Chicago into Vancouver. So I considered would that happen in the next 10, 15, 20 years... not probable. For cripes sake, Quade is still the manager!

.400 hitter, i know adrian gonzalez is hitting .341 with reyes and michael young not far behind, and ryan braun in 4th hitting .333.... if they had a really good year next year. i could see a .400 hitter coming sooner than any other option.

cubs- that club is cursed, i swear.

Geez, when you really think about all of those it is a tough decision. The obvious choice should be a team winning a WS (especially a team with money) but even as a Cubs fan I can't imagine them doing it. I think the three statistical feats are just so incredibly difficult, especially the hitting ones due to the media attention in modern times. I could have possibly envisioned Bonds getting in the HOF someday if only he wasn't such a jag and people actually liked him.

Shoulda put Hershiser's scoreless innings record on there...though that'd be more fitting for a "what record will never be broken" poll.

the man you just described to hit .400 is Jose Reyes. He is very fast, the toughest to strike out in the league (a strikeout per every _ number of at bats) and the outfield very well usually plays deep against him due to his 16 or 17 triples this year. Right now he is leading the national league with a .336 average. He got it as high as .351 at one point in June. Jose Reyes is one talented player.

In over 50 years, the closest to .400 was George Brett. He was not speedy, but he still wasn't that close. I believe .400 is off the table just like 30 wins. No chance of it happening. The 56 game streak won't be touched either. No one else has gotten to 50. So basically you are left with the Cubs and Bonds. My thought on that is. Who the F cares?

classic, if you say cubs/bonds, i say cubs, cause i highly doubt Bonds is getting in HOF.

Every old-timer with a hall of fame ballot to fill in will have to die before Bonds gets in.

What about 100 stolen bases in a season.

how about 100 steals in a season? I don't think that will ever be done again. I know that there are some guys who could probably pull it off if they were given the green like but the game is just not played the same. Rickey hit the 100 mark several times in his career.
