Can't say this move shocks me at all. Good for Rizzo - should do well in Wrigley

No, that's Ben aka TopProspectAlert. I just contribute to his site.

Speaking of which, I'll be doing revised SD/CHC lists to reflect this trade.

Should bode well for Rizzo's stats and card values

The Padres are really counting on Cashner being able to be a reliable starter with this deal. I'm surprised if this is all they could get.

Where is the poster who said the Cubs didn't have enough talent on their roster to land Rizzo? I seem to recall him saying the Padres would be dumb to trade Rizzo to the Cubs, even if the deal involved Castro and other players. Pure genius.

That's it? Andrew Cashner! Why didn't the Mariners go after him if the price was so cheap!

I think some of you are underestimating how good Andrew Cashner is. I got see him quite a few times, dude has LEGIT stuff. #1-2 starter stuff.

This trade is tough for me. I am disapointed to see Cashner go and happy to see Rizzo coming to the friendly confines.

Legit if he can stay healthy which hasn't been the case. He still doesn't quite have a 3rd plus pitch but that can be worked on. Obviously he doesn't have to be quite as good (in petco) but he pitched all of 5 innings last season and then was out all year. No way you can through him into a starting rotation after that.

young arm for a young bat. more risk for padres with the pitcher, but more upside too.

Well this really puts a damper on the offseason for the Padres. I thought they did very well with the Latos trade, but that didn't mean they had to just dump Rizzo. He's a great young talent and say what you want about Cashner they could have gotten more.

I would have rather seen Rizzo develop in AAA another year while Alonso held down 1B. That way either one would emerge as the clear 1B of the future or Rizzo's value would have gone up even more while becoming even more expendable if both did well.

I hope Cashner is as good as advertised!

It's true...SD is truly the Siberia of the card collecting world. It might be the worst market in MLB for player values.

WOW. If that's all it took, gee I wish the Cardinals would've went after him. A year behind Berkman then he could take over...

Ok phew! I was gonna say bud if it was Bowman Chrome you're a few hundred bucks short of fair market value

It's good for now but SD is a wasteland for collecting. He will take an instant jump from the trade so if people hold his stuff it will go up once he's playing with the Cubs. Could be as soon as this year.

Yea true, but Finest REALLY didn't do well for resale value, so I think I still did pretty good.
