Default Baseball HOF Collectors Thread

Hey Everyone,

The basketball board has a great thread for the Hall of Fame collectors. Right now I'm trying to get an autograph of every HOFer, as well as a GU, Patch, and Rookie card. I know this will be impossible but I wanted to start a thread for others who are on a similar pursuit.

I'm at 150 different AUTOs right now.

I've attached my list. If anyone has any that I don't have, feel free to PM me.

I hope this becomes a LONGGGGGGGGG thread!!!

I actually met three HOFers today at Rangers Fanfest.

Fergie Jenkins, Gaylord Perry, and this guy...

I already have 6 or 7 of Jenkins and Perry so I thought I would add my third Fingers.

I was thinking of getting an auto if every HOFer - either certified auto, or psa/DNA slabbed. Then I realized how financially impossible it is

Mine is Ty Cobb.

I just started this recently and only have 7 autos so far. Only going to collect players. No chance at ever finishing this short of winning the lottery but we'll see where it goes. It is amazing to see how cheap some of these sell at in relation to some guy that had an average season in AA ball. It is a shame really.

Edit - Since this post I am now up to 10 and a long long ways to go. It isn't a main focus of mine but more of a if I see a good deal I buy it thing.

I'm not at home, so can't scan them in, but I've been collecting auto'ed Perez Steele cards for quite a few years.

Have every HOFer who was alive long enough to sign one except Roy Campanella, Kirby Puckett, and George Brett.

Sounds like a fun (and potentially expensive) collecting idea.

One question, does multiplayer cards count for every player in the card? You probably could knock off quite a few via the 09 Ultimate 6-Way or 8-Way cards.

Very cool. I've been looking to start up this project as well. I ran out of money before I even started

I don't specifically collect HOFer signed cards but here are a few of mine:

I've been working on a similar endeavor for the last serveral years. It is a ton of fun and can be very expensive. While I will continue seeking all 300 members, I've already decided to eliminate the ones I consider impossible. I'm talking about most of the 19th century players and many of the Negro Leaguers (especially the ones just inducted in 2006). There are also about 14 or so who died before 1950, died young, and were inducted posthumously. But the hunt continues. I'm a little over half way there. I prefer on card certified autos, but for some players concessions must be made. So far I am a little over half way finished. My favorites in no particular order: George Brett 1/1 Diamond Kings Anniversary Auto, George Brett/brooks Robinson Auto Patch 1/1 signed by one on each side, Satchel Paige Gateway, Connie Mack cut auto, Walter Johnson Cut Auto, and a Ted Williams beauty my youngest hit for me in 2012 Topps Archives. (I'll post a picture when I get home)

Good luck and I'm always looking to trade. Especially if it means we can all help each other accomplish our goal! At the moment I have an extra 2012 Historic Autographs Bob Gibson Legends of the Hall Auto HoF postcard #/28, Gem Mint 10 and a 2012 Historic Autographs Willie McCovey Why The Hall Not? #1/13 for sale or trade.
Thanks,
Jeff

Great, great items all around.

Brand new here, so I thought I'd share my one HOF item.

Would love to continue with the theme, so the names in red are my wishlist.
