Default PSA 10 v. BGS 9.5 /10 auto

Anyones thoughts on which is more valuable? Lets say I have a PSA 10 and get a raw review from BGS as a 9.5/10, should I have them slab the BGS grade or leave in the PSA slab??

How often have you guys experienced PSA 10's crossing over to BGS 10's

Thanks
joe

The difference in value between PSA & BGS really depends on the subject, and what's on the market. If you're talking about current cards BGS will usually win out. They grade the auto and have a Pristine grade...PSA doesn't. You'll see a lot of cards with streaky signatures in PSA slabs, because there's no way it would get a 10 auto grade from Beckett.

I would take a 9.5/10 BGS over PSA 10. But I would take a PSA 10 over a BGS 9.5/9

For modern cards, use BGS - for vintage or not quite vintage (80's) use PSA

PSA Jeter SP are tough. PSA kills corners.

I'd go with PSA, it's more rare.

I feel that it's easier to get a 9.5 than a PSA 10 on a card. My reasoning is because Beckett uses the 4 subgrades calculation. So a card with 9 on centering could still get a 9.5, whereas the same card would most likely not got a PSA 10 b/c of the centering. Don't get me wrong I prefer BGS for anything modern, and PSA 10's with auto's often have streaky auto's that would never get 10 auto grades in a BGS holder. There are pro's and con's for both.

Anything 79 and down goes PSA for me. Sells for more b/c of the set registry and BVG get's knocked b/c of sheet cut cards. I've seen vintage common's go for $500 and up easy in PSA 10 holder if they're low pop.

I thought everyone knew PSA was more lenient on centering... here are the requirements for Gem Mint from both websites: PSA The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse. Beckett Centering: 50/50 one way, 55/45 the other on front. 65/35 or better on back.

In reference to the 93 Jeter SP, most of those BGS 9's can't cross to PSA 9 because of surface or corners. I had an impressive Jeter collection at one point, and submitted a handful of those 93 SP cards...always lower than expected(or hoped for).

So is the requirement for 9.5 centering the above according to bgs? I'm just thinking that you can still get a 9 mint for centering and receive an overall grade of 9.5 gem mint? What's the requirement for 9.0 centering according to beckett?
