It kills me everytime I compare card value. People pay 5k 10k for harpers, lawries, hosmers, ect.. I just bought an Al Kaline 6/25 (that's his jersey number btw) auto for $60 bucks. To be honest, I overpaid for it a few bucks (probably worth 40)

Problem is:

Al Kaline has 1000's of autos out there, and has for a while. His collectors already own oodles of his signature. His rookie cards sell well in a high grade, with no auto, for $500-1000.

Ponder this:

Take Kaline (HOF'er) and put him with todays crop of rookies. Have him sign 2750 Bowman chrome cards. His base sells for $50. Say 18-20 years from now he has his .297 avg and 3007 hits. His base auto sells for $900. He is a fan favorite and gets into the HOF on his first vote. What do you think his prospect auto cards would be worth then? Especially when there are only 2750 of them. Collectors already own most of them and the ones "available" in circulation are few and far between...

now, he get's inducted and it's a big deal, he's on ESPN and all those fancy TV shows. How much would his prospect autos be then? $1500-2000? you tell me, because i sure as hell do not know.

we DO know that Pujols prospect autos (as limited as they are with <500 copies) are selling for $3500-6000 and UP... unless he has some huge issue with PED's or kills some kid in Indiana... they ARE NOT getting cheaper.

Yes, becuase RC autographs are completely the same as mass produced autographs (probably sticker) of HOFers
