Nice article...now we need to skip ahead to the part where people start sputtering about how the MVP is for the Most Valuable Player and not for the Reigning WAR Champion!!!!

In all seriousness...WAR is not a perfect stat, for sure, but it does a very fine job of measuring a player's overall value. When the WAR race is THIS lopsided though...I mean, it should speak for itself.

Trout has been amazing, but it's going to be hard to deny a player the MVP who has an excellent shot at the first Triple Crown since Yaz...

Ellsbury didn't win the MVP in 2011 so Trout won't in 2012...They both had a high War and they both have very similar stat lines...Im not saying Ellsbury is better than Trout, Im just comparing stats look at what Trout did in 2011, now look at ellsbury in 2010...look at trout in 2012 and Ellsbury in 2011...both highly improved players but Ells didn't win it, so i dont see how Trout will

*NOTE Ellsbury was injured this year so he has been nothing to brag about. Their stats have been very similar but Trout will be the better player if he stays healthy! He's a defensive beast.

I honestly feel that whichever team makes the playoffs should have the MVP, if neither team makes the playoffs than it's a coin flip. Cabrera bats in front of Fielder, Trout is putting up insane numbers in the leadoff spot.

oh, i agree. however, apparently stats and records don't matter as much as a players "value" to the success of their team. i'm sure i don't need to re-hash the argument from 2011 kemp v. braun.

I agree, but that was two similar players up for MVP, Trout and Cabrera are very different types of players.

though I will note that Ellsbury did come in second and only lost to a pitcher who had 24 wins so who knows what voters will do. Watch us get a curveball thrown and they give it to Josh Reddick lmao

Kemp got mega-robbed in 2011

LOL I had thought of that.
I also find it amusing that "experts" cant agree on what formula to use for WAR.

It is a usefool tool. No debate there.

tool being the operative word

Is Trout heating up again? It's the 3rd inning in Texas and he's already got the two hardest components of the cycle going
